Oh, Jenelle Evans. I'll be the first to admit that you are someone I generally love to hate on, but your recent juicy confession has me kinda impressed. In response to a tweet from 16 and Pregnant star Ashley Salazar saying that Evans is her idol, the Teen Mom tweeted, "Really I shouldn't be anyone's idol." She followed up with another post saying, "well I mean until my life is stable then people can idolize me but noooo."
Wow. Truer words have never been spoken.
Let's reflect on a few of Jenelle's worse decisions from the past year, shall we? In February, Evans went to rehab for drug use. Then she got back with still-husband Courtland Rogers despite him CLEARLY being a bad influence on her in March. Then, eeek, she was arrested on charges of heroin possession and domestic violence back in April. She was arrested in May for missing a court date on her year-old cyberstalking case. Okay, I think I've provided enough evidence: Jenelle hasn't exactly been conducting herself in exemplary ways.
But this confession, Jenelle saying she's NOT a role model, that's her being realistic. There have been many times in the past year where she hasn't been. Staying with Courtland, for example, thinking that he was good for her -- very unrealistic.
Who knows? Maybe a statement like this will have Jenelle reevaluating the kind of person she is. It sounds like she wants to get on the right track and stabilize her life. The question is, does she really mean it this time? I hope so.
Do you think Jenelle will ever be a role model?
