Big congrats to Scarlett Johansson are in order. Reports have it that the actress is engaged to be married to her sexy French journalist boyfriend, Romain Dauriac.
Rumors started circulating earlier this week when she was seen sporting some big bling -- a gorgeous art deco diamond ring -- on her left ring finger. Now sources confirm that the couple, who have been dating for about 10 months, are indeed engaged. A source told People "They're engaged and very happy," and that the engagement actually happened last month, but they've kept it under warps ... until now.
This will be her second marriage. The first to actor Ryan Reynolds lasted less than three years before they divorced. It's her words after that divorce that I immediately thought of when I read news this recent engagement. She told Cosmopolitan in 2011 that she had not been ready for marriage:
Relationships are complicated and being married is a living, breathing process. I think I was not fully aware of the peaks and valleys. I wasn't prepared to hunker down and do the work.
So hopefully she's learned from her past mistakes, and both she and Dauriac are ready to do some serious hunkering. Ten months seems like a very short time to date before getting engaged, and I'm sure some will argue that it's too soon, especially so soon after a divorce. But like age, sometimes time is an arbitrary thing when it comes to love, and you just have to live in the minute and not by conventional expectations. Besides, would you turn down that ring? Congratulations to the couple.
Do you think this marriage will last for ScarJo?
