It's a victory for Nicole Polizzi and Jenni Farley. This week a judge shot down the wishes of some grumpy neighbors who didn't want the tanned and toned twosome filming their MTV show Snooki & JWOWW on Pelican Island in Berkeley Township, New Jersey.
Local residents had requested an injunction to prohibit cameras from rolling, saying the show presents a "threat of irreparable harm" to the town. This week, however, according to the Asbury Park Press, Judge E. David Millard ruled against the injunction, which means the show can go on. Can I get a fist pump?
There's still a zoning challenge that could get in the way, but for now things are looking good for season three. So take that, stuffy neighbors.
If we were talking Jersey Shore back in the day, I would be more sympathetic to the residents' concerns. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to live next to that either. But Nicole and Jenni alone are no big threat. Snooki has settled down, had a kid, and has shown more maturity than we could have ever imagined. JWOWW is engaged with baby dreams dancing in her head. They're not going to be stripping in the streets and partying until all hours of the morning ... or not usually.
Honestly, residents should be begging them to come there to film. Half the country had never even considered the Jersey shore, before Jersey Shore. Not all of the attention was for virtuous reasons (actually maybe none of it was), but they say all publicity is good publicity, and Jersey Shore brought a lot of it to the area. With Snooki & JWOWW, it's even better because they're getting the free publicity without all the insanity. It seems like they should be baking them a cake to welcome them rather than offering this rude reception.
Would you be upset if a show like this wanted to film where you live?
