‘Bachelorette’ Finalist Brooks Forester Mocks Chris Siegfried's Poetry -- Someone Had To!

LOL 14

brooks forresterWe thought we'd heard the last of Brooks Forester, The Man Who Didn't Love Bachelorette Desiree Hartsock. He broke her heart and left her to marry the other man of her dreams -- what was his name again? Oh yes, Chris Siegfried. Also known as Chris I Suppose You'll Do, the Emergency Fiance. That's going to end well, I'm sure. But now, instead of being a gentleman about the whole thing, Brooks is making fun of Chris and, for all things, over Chris's penchant for poetry.

You may recall Chris's frolics with verse on the show. While on a seaside date in Portugal, he made Desiree compose a poem with him, writing it on parchment paper and sending it into the ocean in a bottle. How romantic uncomfortably cheesy. And you know what? Now would be a good time for a public service announcement: Despite what your high school English teacher told you, not everyone can write poetry. You really should leave that shit up to the professionals. At the very least, scribble your doggerel in private, but then burn it. For the love of all that his holy, do not read it on national TV.

Okay, so fast forward to now. The series is over. Chris the Bard has won. And look who's making fun of him. Via Twitter, Brooks pens a few poetic lines himself: "Time flies like an arrow. Veggies fly like a tomato." Just in case you were about to give him the benefit of the doubt and propose that maybe he just likes writing poetry, too, Brooks added, "poems are written and poems are read but thanks to @ChrisRSiegfried poems are dead. #MuchLoveChris."

Ouch! Chris killed poetry. I was going to scold Brooks for being such a spoiled sport over a game he essentially forfeited. Is it really good form to mock a competitor you let win? What is that even about, anyway?

But maybe Chris deserves to be mocked for his schlocky performance. Maybe Brooks is just revealing what a farce this whole Bachelor/Bachelorette game is. It's every bit as forced and saccharine as Chris Siegfried's tortured verse.

I was kidding about non-poets writing poetry. By all means, express yourself. Wear your heart on your sleeve. Just don't fake it like I'm pretty sure Chris has been faking it all along.

Do you think it's rude of Brooks to make fun of Chris's poetry writing?

No I don't. This Dez is ridiculous. How can you be in love after 3 dates? I didn't like the way she hung on every man that she went out with. How do you expect the other guys to feel? I think Brooks had feelings for her, but he is old school and has morals. Saw what she was doing. Last year she hung all over Shawn.

I knew I hated brooks forrester. lining him up next to Chris, Chris would win 9/10 times. And now that he has posted these rude and WRONG comments 99/100 would prefer Chris!

Chris was my pick from the very start! I truly believe Chris is madly in love with her and if she truly loves him in return, I think they will have a long and beautiful life together! Call me corny, but when Des said: " I was so blindsided by my feelings for Brooks that I couldn't see that, everything I needed was right in front of me the whole time".... I believe she meant that. I think these two could actually make it for the long haul. I hope Brooks is about done talking!

Chris and Des are very relaxed and natural with each other. His poems were not meant to impress the masses just Des. Making fun of Chris' poems just comes across as mean spirited.

Brooks just said what all the other guys in the house thought. Actually, I got tired of Chris' silly poetry myself and would walk away when another poem was about to be given/read. Quit bashing Brooks people. Desiree got what she wanted... a man, a ring and a future nose reaming by her future father-in-law. I just hope she eats well to meet with papa's approval. Then again, maybe Chris could write a poem to inspire her to do so.

Brooks needed more time; I think the show pressured his feelings and he wasn't going to fake or rush anything for the show in the short amount of time given. I think Brooks' feelings may have been bruised when Desiree decided to continue on, pretending to dismiss her "love" for him, then proclaiming "love" suddenly for Chris. That was the most foolish and immature move Desiree made. I've never heard of anyone being able to genuinely turn their love on and off so quickly. If Desiree left the show without a man, it would have proven that she had love for Brooks, and then maybe the two would have had a second chance reconciliation. Maybe that's what Brooks was waiting for; some proof. What a shame; she screwed it up for herself. As for Chris' "poetry"; the guys competed, and there are negative things still being said about everyone on the show.
