Jayma Mays Confirms She's Leaving 'Glee' -- Where Does That Leave Wemma?!

TV Addict 9

emma gleeJust as fans have started to come to terms with the fact that without Cory Monteith, Glee will never be the same, now comes news that another official exit from the show by a regular, original cast member is in the works. Jayma Mays has officially confirmed that her character, high school counselor-turned-Mrs. Schue Emma Pillsbury, isn't hanging around McKinley much longer.

Jayma confirmed that she's leaving Glee to Access Hollywood at the recent Smurfs 2 premiere, stating, "This is going to be my last season." Instead, Mays will be replacing Always Sunny star Mary Elizabeth Ellis on CBS' upcoming comedy, The Millers, starring Will Arnett. Good for her, but, ack! What does that mean for the rest of the cast ... and certain storylines -- Wemma?! -- we've grown to rely on?

All Jayma herself would volunteer in so far as what direction the show will go in down the road:

I’m finishing up this season, so I’m not sure what direction and who’s coming on and who’s not.

Oookay. What we know, however, is that Heather Morris, Mark Salling, Amber Riley, and Harry Shum, Jr. are off as regulars. No big surprise there, as they had already graduated and moved on as of the end of season 3. We also already knew that Melissa Benoist (Marley), Jacob Artist (Jake), Becca Tobin (Kitty) and The Glee Project alumni Blake Jenner and Alex Newell are here to stay. Adam Lambert will show up. Lea Michele confirmed that she'll be back, even in the wake of her/the cast's recent tragic loss.

But with this news, the confirmed sixth season seems like one really big question mark. I wouldn't be surprised if this means they write Mr. Schue off for that final season, too. What else would happen? Emma gets sent away for some kind of activist-y, Peace Corps-y type trip for the year? It's possible, but upping and leaving like that seems sorta out of character.

It would make more sense to have her and Mr. Schue pack up and leave together ... The "grown-ups" of the show gracefully exiting as they often do in teen-centric shows. But then again, this has never been your average teen-centric show. So who knows what'll happen? One thing's for sure ... We're definitely going to miss Emma!

What's your reaction to Jayma's departure? What do you think it means for Wemma in season 6?

I think glee is past its prime and its time to let go.

He could go back to Washington to campaign, and she might transfer to another school to be with him. It's a theory anyway. Who knows what Ryan Murphy is going to plan?

Glee stopped being truly great after the second season, in my opinion. I loved it until season 3, but still watched.  And now that Cory Monteith has passed away, I think that the show just might be in it's last season anyway. If this isn't the last season, then next will be. Mark my words.

They should really make this two shows. They could turn the New York scenes into its own show...basically a spin off with Rachel, Kurt, Santana, and who ever else shows up. And Glee can focus on just McKinley High and the students still there.

I feel the exact same way.  I had a hard time watching season 3...like at all.  I'm suprised the show has carried on as long as it has really.

Most great t.v. shows hang around too long and become ordinary (or bizarre).  Glee hasn't done that yet but I wouldn't be surprised if they were thinking about going out on top.  I've heard rumors that this season will be very short.  Not a bad time to wrap.

Who cares at this point?  What was once a sweet budding romance turned into a bunch of cheap jokes and Will treating her like crap!  Acted like she should drop her intire life to go to Washington with him, left her all alone to plan an entire wedding...  Hello!  OCD!!!  You can't do that to someone with OCD.
