Walking Dead Here's what we know so far about season 4 of The Walking Dead: the zombie threat will be increased in a big, yet-to-be-revealed way. It will be "way crazier" than previous seasons, as the action and danger ramp up. The Governor will be back. Rick's focus on his parenting duties with Carl will create conflict with his role as a leader. Tyreese unites with Rick in a way that the show creator promises will be "a big moment for the comic book fans." It's possible our love for Daryl Dixon may get him killed.

As the premiere date inches closer, AMC keeps dropping more and more hints about the drama that will be unfolding when the show returns on October 13. Their latest revelation? The very first episode will feature something NONE of us want to see.

(Warning: spoilers ahead!)

According to executive producer and special FX makeup designer Greg Nicotero, episode 1 -- which is intriguingly titled “30 Days Without an Accident”) will include a zombie baby. Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne, confirms the gruesome appearance:

There's a little hint of that in the premiere.

Nicotero says the series almost went there last season during that chilling scene when Daryl and Maggie were searching for baby formula at a daycare center. Remember that, how they kept hearing weird movement-type noises coming from a closet and everyone watching was like OH PLEASE GOD DON'T LET IT BE A KID PLEASE PLEASE and, whew, it was a possum? (Daryl, awesomely: "Dinner!")

The season 4 premiere is apparently going to take that final step to infant-zombieville, and sick puppy Robert Kirkman sounds downright gleeful about the opportunity:

... it’ll be something different from the baby who was seen in the Dawn of the Dead remake, which was horrific and done so well. There's still room for us to do something different and cool.

Horrific indeed. That movie had a zombiefied woman giving birth. To a baby who looked like this:

GAH. Anyway, this news might be upsetting for those who worry that the baby walker may in fact be Lil' Asskicker Judith, and I suppose there's a chance the show delivers that kind of holy-shit gut-punch right out of the chute. I sort of doubt it, though. Although wee Judith Grimes (BEGIN COMICS SPOILER) died a shocking and violent death in the original story (END COMICS SPOILER), I'm thinking she'll be around for a while on the show. Back in March, Walking Dead producer David Alpert said,

Clearly, from a safety perspective, it's a bad idea to have a baby in a prison, but from a humanity point of view, we have to find a way to let her exist. We have to protect her and everybody knows that. What defines our group is that they believe in the future and they have to. I think what we're going to see as we move forward, maybe this season, maybe not, but we're going to see that Judith's role and existence is going to be more and more important to their identity.

Are you cringing over the idea of seeing a zombie baby in the season 4 premiere? Do you think it will be Judith?
