Man. Whoever says you can't get famous simply by appearing on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette might want to hold their tongue, because one former star of both shows just caught a very big Hollywood break.
Ali Fedotowsky landed a role in Blue Jasmine, which just happens to co-star Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin. Yep. She's playing a personal trainer. Are you believing this? In the span of a couple years, Ali went from living in San Francisco and working at Facebook to landing a reality TV gig that now has her rubbing elbows with A-listers. And she has a hot new boyfriend on her arm too, Kevin Manno. (Who totally looks like Frank from her season of The Bachelorette. Coincidence?)
And she must obviously think she's on the path to super-stardom, based on how worried she was about people recognizing her on the set of the Woody Allen film.
At the L.A. premiere of the flick, she told Us Weekly, "I was hoping nobody would [recognize me] because I didn't want to be the Bachelorette girl. I wanted them to think of me as someone who was an actor, not even like an actress, but like a girl who has never had a role and it's her first role."
(Yeah. I know. She flubbed her words a bit there.)
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Ali -- but you're gonna be the Bachelorette girl no matter what you do for the rest of your life.
It's not like she started out as an actor and just happened to wind up getting into reality TV, so it's tough not to look at her story as yet another case of someone who stumbled into a career in showbiz out of pure luck.
I'm really not trying to rain on her parade or anything (ok, maybe I am) -- but it's not like having this small role is going to magically turn her into the next Julia Roberts overnight. Hopefully she won't set her expectations too high as far as scoring movie roles becoming a regular thing; otherwise, she may wind up being very disappointed. (And then she'll probably wish she'd stuck with Zuckerberg.)
Can you see Ali as an actress?
