For months and months now, we've been praying, hoping, and wishing that a certain hunk would be named Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. That stud? Ian Somerhalder, of course. Well, I have big news about Ian and the role. Major news. News that may or may not ruin your day and for that I'm sorry in advance. Apparently E.L. James, writer of the ghastly successful and steamy trilogy, was at a Comic-Con party on July 20 telling people the part won't go to Somerhalder.
NOT IAN?! Okay. Breathing. I'm going to take this all as hearsay right now and not rule him out 100 percent just yet. I refuse to. Besides, another new rumor gives me hope I won't have to.
According to Us Weekly, Garrett Hedlund was approached about the part and turned it down. Allegedly Hedlund, who may I just say is very easy on the eyes, didn't want the commitment involved in signing on to a trilogy.
Whether or not that's true, it brings up an interesting point. Taking on the part of Christian Grey is a huge commitment, one that will involve years and years of dedication. The actor who commits to the role has to really want to be involved in such a long-term project. That's why I won't rule out any contenders who have spoken up about their interest in the part like, ahem, Ian Somerhalder.
A woman can dream, right? Hey, if my dreams of seeing Ian as Christian are a little tainted (for now), I can at least mend my frustrations by staring at Ian shirtless right? Right.
Are you TOTALLY bummed about this Ian rumor? Who do you want to see play Christian Grey?
