Lisa Kudrow Dashes Our Hopes for a 'Friends' Movie

TV Addict 6

FriendsWhen it comes to reunions or movies made from old television series, the track record hasn't been good. Think of Charlie's Angels, The Brady Bunch, Dukes of Hazzard, Sex and the City -- few have worked well years after the shows' original glory. But I always thought a Friends movie would be different ... or at least hoped it would be.

Sounds like we'll never find out though, according Lisa Kudrow, who just crushed all of our dreams. In no uncertain terms she told CNN in an interview that there is no Friends movie in the works. "There was never a 'Friends' movie. Ever," she said. "So I've always known it's not happening."

So what about the news earlier this year that a reunion was coming Thanksgiving 2014? Kudrow said that actually took her by surprise.

I went, 'Wait a minute, was I not invited? Oh, my God, maybe there is one, and I wasn't asked to do it.' I even had a moment where I believed it because everything around it looked real. It was a good setup.

Just a setup? How disappointing. She said the creators have assured her she wasn't uninvited, there's just not anything to which to invite her. As for the rumors, she said:

The creators have put them to rest. NBC has. I don't know who else needs to say, 'It's really not happening.

Kudrow, for one, isn't disappointed there won't be reunion at all. She told the Huffington Post:

I wouldn't even have an interest in seeing what those people are doing 10 years later as parents that have to be responsible ... It would be so different that it wouldn't be 'Friends' anymore.

As big of a bummer as it is for the rest of us though, I suppose it may be for the best. Because if they did make a movie and it bombed, that might be even worse. It's probably best to remember our friends as they were back then and not try to mess with what was television perfection.

Do you think a Friends movie could work?

Sitcoms are on TV because they wouldn't make good movies, in my opinion. I loved Friends during its time, but the sun has set on those six. I see no interesting movie plot coming from that show.

I agree, I don't want to actually see what they would be doing now.  I'll just use my imagination.  :)

I NEVER was a dedicated watcher of friends but, sen it maybe 3 times or so. I think if a script was perfect and they got the cast involved in creating it, it could work, the right director and script etc., can make magic and that could be good for the shows dedicated fans, great to get in a time machine and feel like you did back then! Id actually go though not dedicated to the show when it aired for the curiosity! Would do the same for alot of shows I didnt watch alot and for those I did, nostalgia is a high that makes u smile! I'm okay with them not doing a movie but a reunion show where instead of doing a scripted show you got to see the cast talk about their favorite episodes and talk about memories would be worth watching I think.  Anything else I think wouldn't feel right.

No plot line for a movie??? A Ross/Rachel wedding! Duh. Pretty simple if you ask me. This is just a bunch of spoiled actors not giving their fans what we want
