Comic-Con is awesome. It's pretty much the perfect place for everyone involved in Game of Thrones and everyone who loves Game of Thrones to come together for one incredibly amazing, geeky lovefest. And believe it or not, the masters behind the HBO show, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, said during Comic-Con that season 4 could be even better than season 3. Dude, is that even possible?!
Benioff teased, "We got more action, which is obviously more time consuming. It’s a brutal shooting season ahead. But if we can make it through, yeah, I think it’s going to surpass season 3. The last three episodes, there’s so many scenes we’ve been waiting for so long to do." OMG, I can't wait. What could go down in season 4 that could ever top the Red Wedding?
Even more fun stuff came out of Comic-Con for Game of Thrones fans. Let's take a gander! Mild show spoilers ahead!
Just have to tell you about this awesome moment: Fans were treated to an appearance by Jason Momoa, aka Khal Drogo! He came up and gave Emilia Clarke a big kiss. "I was hoping for shirtless," said Dan Weiss (so were the rest of us). "My sun and stars," Emilia obviously had to gush the moment she saw her TV husband. "I see dead people," quipped the moderator.
Those in attendance also got to see a deleted scene featuring Tywin Lannister and Pycelle, when Tywin pretty much says Pycelle isn't as fragile as he looks. And we all know that every scene Tywin is in is pretty much boss. (The video is below.)
We'll also get to see how the love fest between Jon Snow and Ygritte plays out in season 4. "Wildling life is the only life she’s ever known, and suddenly, here comes Jon Snow," Rose Leslie said about their forbidden romance. "The love that she has for him dominated." Hooo boy, looks like there might be some difficult decisions ahead for Ygritte.
About the Red Wedding, Michelle Fairley, who plays Catelyn Stark, said she "knew how many years I signed for" and knows what's coming. It's hard to say what exactly that means and if that proves she'll make any kind of appearance in season 4 -- though book readers have a far better idea of what's to come for the Stark family!
Also, book fans will want to know this: Author George R.R. Martin said he wants to finish up the books to keep up with the show (thank goodness!). "The locomotive is coming up behind me and I’m still laying the tracks," he said. He also said he'd be open to write more books that take place in Westeros, but it most likely won't be a direct prequel. All we have to say is: Hurry up and finish those books, George!!
