'DWTS' Season 17 Casting Rumors -- Here's What We Know So Far

TV Addict 29

DWTS pros

Now that The Bachelorette is a couple weeks away from coming to a close, we can probably go ahead and get excited about Dancing With the Stars season 17 being our next guilty reality TV pleasure. And while we're still a ways off from knowing who exactly winds up on the cast roster, there are a few names who have been thrown into the ring as possibilities -- and they're pretty interesting, to say the least.

We can probably assume that ABC is going to come up with a pretty controversial and fun lineup. And if the rumors about the new DWTS cast being geared to a younger, more hip audience are true, then we can probably expect a lot of cool celeb types under 30 to join the party too.

But as far as who might already be in talks with producers, here are a few names that have been thrown around.

Paula Deen -- Love her or hate her, she'd be an amazing addition to the cast. Yes, she would. Because she still has a ton of people rooting for her, and viewers can't resist someone who's really controversial. However, whether or not she's actually up for the gig is another story.

Jon Gosselin -- I know, I know, you gotta be kidding me. But apparently he thinks DWTS will help him redeem his image or something. No word on whether or not ABC agrees though.

Chris Colfer -- Aww. It's tough to even think about any of the Glee cast members wanting to do anything career-related with the recent death of Cory Monteith, but DWTS co-host Brooke Burke thinks he'd be a great addition to the cast.

Tony Kanaan -- He's an Indy car dude. And supposedly he is officially in talks with producers to be part of the season 17 cast. This shouldn't come as a surprise, as one or two sports figures usually make it into the mix.

So far, that's pretty much all I can dig up as far as casting rumors go. But what about the judges? Remember those rumors about them either being replaced, or one or more of them not returning? Well, Carrie Ann Inaba has confirmed she's coming back, so at least we know we have her colorful commentary (and falling out of her chair) to look forward to.

Who would you like to see on DWTS season 17?

Ugh, this show has run its course. When the pros are more famous than the "stars," time to call it a day!

Betty Cooper

I STILL like DWTS and can't wait for the new group of "celebs" to learn how to dance. We get to know the ones we are not familiar with and get to know even better the ones we are familiar with. I love it the way it is with the judges and host it has. Please do not change that. Don't forget the older folks. I think you will find the over 50 group are you biggest audience. Please keep the two night format too! Thanks ABC for the great entertainment.

Tina Brannon

Joseph Gonzales
