Amanda BynesIt was just a month ago that I chuckled ruefully at the Amanda Bynes PSA video, realizing I was the exact sort of person the video was aimed at. It's true that up until that point, I was mostly entertained by Amanda Bynes' increasingly weird public meltdown, Twitter rants and all. Shortly after I wrote that I found her oddball behavior to be a harmless distraction from the real problems in the world, I noticed a not-so-subtle change in her tweets.

In the last few weeks, the mini-rants Bynes posts on Twitter have stopped being funny in any way. I don't know if she's legitimately mentally ill or if it's all some bizarre act, but the things she says now are cruel, obsessive, and downright unhinged.

The good news is that she may finally be getting some professional help -- although the bad news is Bynes thinks she only needs help dealing with "anger issues."

Personally, I think her issues run a lot deeper than a temper flareup now and then. If you scroll through her Twitter stream -- not that I really recommend doing so, because it's sort of like dropping into Alice's rabbit hole except instead of Red Queens and hookah-smoking caterpillars there are images of Drake and statements like "There's a surgery for everything that's wrong with you!" -- you can see how starting at the end of June, Bynes started writing most of her tweets like headlines. Every word capitalized, as if it was being presented for publication:

When You Have Money You Don't Care What Anyone Says About You

I Know I Love Drake Because If He Got Parkinson's Or Got Into Some Sort Of Accident & He Looked Different He'd Still Be The Only One I Want

I Want A Million Dollars A Year For Illegally Having My Mind Read And Privacy Stolen

Wow, that last one is a bit ... disturbing.

She writes constantly about plastic surgery, talking about how she either just had surgery ("My Surgeon Broke My Nose During My Surgery But Hasn't Finished My Nose! It's Still Broken And I Can't Breathe!") or that she's planning a new surgery ("My Broken Nose Is Making The Bone Under My Eyes Protrude So I Won't Stop Getting Surgery Until That Bone Is Shaved Off").

Worse, she's obsessed with calling people "ugly." When she's not gushing over how much she loves Drake, she's calling him ugly ("They airbrushed @drake to make his eyes look like he doesn't have down syndrome"). Rihanna is ugly ("Chris Brown beat you because you’re not pretty enough"). Miley Cyrus, model Chrissy Teigen, Courtney Love, Zac Efron, Lance Bass, and the Obamas are ugly.

The lowest she's stooped while on her ugly rampage was when she posted this about her 9-year-old niece, the girl who used to call her "Aunt Chickie":

My Niece Jaylynn Is Ugly But My Nephew Matt Is Stunning

That, along with most of her other "ugly" tweets, has since been deleted -- but I imagine her family saw it. More than any of her other rants, her insult to her own young niece makes me think there really is something very, very wrong with Amanda Bynes.

According to a source who claims to have insider info on Bynes, she is aware on some level that she needs to clean up her act:

Amanda isn't crazy, she just has lots of anger issues and knows she needs help dealing with that. It's all for attention. The wigs, the 'ugly' talk. She doesn't take that seriously, but finds it amusing that everyone will write and talk about it so she keeps doing it.

Supposedly Bynes is "determined to pull it all together," and plans to hire a team of helpers in California, including medical professionals and a life coach. Her next step will be to launch her rap career through the help of Waka Flocka Flame. As soon as she completes all her plastic surgery procedures (!), she'll sign with his hip-hop label Brick Squad Monopoly records. He says her first single will likely be called “Shots” and her rap name will be A.B.

Of Bynes' talent as a rapper, the source says,

I think she will surprise people. She’s actually very good.

Honestly, I don't know what to think about Amanda Bynes anymore. I couldn't care less about her future rap career, I just hope for the sake of her family that she really does get help. Maybe this so-called life coach can coach her into rehab or therapy or medication or whatever it is she needs. Because she clearly needs something, and not just for anger issues.

Do you think Amanda Bynes' behavior is all for attention?
