Oh God, I'm writing two wedding-related posts today. But I'm really happy about both, so... guess what? Django Unchained and Scandal actress Kerry Washington just married Nnamdi Asomugha, a San Francisco 49ers football player. And they sure were quiet about it. The couple tied the knot on June 24 in Blaine County, Idaho, and they didn't invite me even though I'm a massive fan of Scandal. Kerry, I thought we were TV BFFs! What happened?
No, I get it, I get it. Kerry likes her privacy. Unlike other stars who let their publicists and/or friends leak every little trivial detail of their lives, who tip off the paparazzi every time to head out to the gym, Kerry Washington has always closely guarded her personal life. Apparently she and Asomugha have been dating for a year, but had anyone heard about it?
Good for them, keeping it all on the DL. Asomugha seems like a good guy, too. His parents are from Nigeria (he grew up in Virginia), so he founded and helps run a foundation that provides aid and scholarships to widows and orphans who survived abuse in Nigeria. He started the Asomugha College Tour for Scholars, which takes high-achieving students on tours of top universities. And he's participated in the Clinton Global Initiative.
All that is great, but what matters most is how he treats Kerry. Hey, Nnamdi, a lot of us Scandal fans have a major girl-crush on Kerry Washington, so you treat our girl right, got that?
I'm sure Kerry was wise about marrying her new husband. In an interview after she broke off her engagement to David Moscow she said, "I've learned more about myself since leaving that relationship." So I like to think Olivia -- I mean -- Kerry is walking into marriage full of self-knowledge and awareness. Best of luck to them both.
Have you been watching Scandal? Because you should. I think you can catch up on Hulu.
