You may not agree with all the personal choices that LeAnn Rimes has made, but you can't help but pity the poor girl sometimes. The country crooner, who performed at the Anti-Bullying Benefit concert in L.A. on Monday night, recently revealed that she was mercilessly bullied during her childhood. It wasn't just pulling hair and name calling she was contending with. LeAnn says one particular brute actually tried to kill her.
Like many far too many other kids, she was a popular target of mean girls at her Dallas, Texas junior high. An over-achiever even then, her principal would post on the school bulletin about her various activities, which really irked a particular clique. They even egged her locker. Though that pales to what happened to her on the last day of school.
I had a girl bring a knife to school the last day of sixth grade and tried to kill me! Awesome. So, I'd say I was bullied a little.
Sad thing is, she's still dealing with that kind of menacing behavior today. Over the past couple of years, she has been attacked on Twitter and other forms of social media. At one point, things had gotten so bad for LeAnn, she underwent treatment for anxiety and stress. It's no wonder. That would adversely affect the self-esteem and emotional state of just about any woman. And now that we know of her history, it makes even more sense.
LeAnn must be one of the most bullied celebs in history. Usually reaching a certain level of fame protects you from that. But to be terrorized as a teen and again now as an adult, it's no wonder she has had such a hard time. Get this woman to Dr. Phil STAT!
Can you believe one of her classmates tried to kill her?
