'Bachelorette' Recap: James Can't Be Trusted but Neither Can Desiree Hartsock

TV Addict 13

James the BacheloretteGood grief. What the heck is going on with Desiree Hartsock's season of The Bachelorette? Because if I didn't know any better -- I'd think these dudes were more concerned with tattle-tailing on each other than they are with playing tonsil hockey forming a connection with Des.

I mean, I know it's in their nature to be competitive and all, but come on -- was it really fair for them to gang up on James the way they did?

Yes, I know he admitted that he's cheated on a girl before and also didn't deny saying that he'd entertain the possibility of being the next Bachelor. But seriously -- what guy with half a pulse comes on the show and doesn't have that particular scenario cross his mind at one point or another?

Duh -- these men aren't stupid. Each and every single one of them knows that being on The Bachelorette opens all sorts of fun, "hey, you've been on a reality TV show" kinda doors. James was just dumb enough to get caught talking about it.

And Des? Ugh. Poor Des got all caught up in his smooth-talkin' ways and didn't seem to want to accept that he might not be as into her as she thought -- and that he might not be on the show for the right reasons.

She empathized with him and got all weepy, which was totally pathetic -- but thank GOD she came to her senses and let him go at the last minute; otherwise, the remaining guys may have never forgiven her, let alone fully trusted her from this point forward. And there's still a chance that they might not feel the same about her for keeping him around as long as she did. By not kicking him to the curb right away, it's almost like she didn't believe what they were telling her. (Not exactly a desirable quality in a potential wife.)

But what the heck is up with her keeping Michael around? (Um, has she SEEN Juan Pablo? Yummy.) Oh wait, I know, it's to dig up any secrets the last few dudes may have -- because that's pretty much all he's done so far. It's like he's her own personal mole. (Good move, Des.)

Chris, Brooks, Zak, and Drew really seem like pretty great guys -- which is why I can't quite wrap my head around what's about to go down based on the previews for next week's episode. Is Drew really going to dump her? And is she going to give up on finding love all together and send the rest of the guys packing?

OMG. Let's hope not. It would be such a shame for it all to come crashing down when Des' season finally started to get entertaining.

Do you think James really liked Desiree, or did he just want to be the next Bachelor? And what do you make of those previews?!?

I went to high school with James and he was a gross creep who had Alex with soooooooo many people. Dear god he had sex with a very slitty girl in the basement of a house being built while his friend waited for his turn and watched them . Played sports with the girl and she loved to "brag" about all the people she hooked up with .

Des is a little more naive than she wants to believe. James had her snowed from the beginning. James actually grosses me out. He's not attractive at all. I don't think she's going to send them all packing. They edit stuff to make it look like that. The shots of them in the limo is more than likely them arriving for the hometown visits. At any rate, I think this whole batch of guys is wrong for Des.

Brooks! He's the only one I like.

Ok, First of all ... LOVE Brooks. I'm glad he's her pick.

Second, I'm not a slut, but James can snow me any time. Good grief people ... none of its "real"!!! Michael, Kasey, and Drew are bullies. They basically bullied Des into letting that other guy go and now James. Honestly, had that been a girl telling the bachelor what another girl in the house said or did it would be kill the messenger and the tattle would be sent home. When it comes to men, its always about sending home the drama. How funny when it comes to a woman its, "she came to her senses and let him go at the last minute, otherwise the remaining guys may have never forgiven her, let alone fully trusted her from this point forward. And there's still a chance that they might not feel the same about her for keeping him around as long as she did. By not kicking him to the curb right away, it's almost like she didn't believe what they were telling her. (Not exactly a desirable quality in a potential wife.)"

WHAT??? I guess I'm not surprised even women have double standards for women.

Who cares who James or any of them slept with in the past. Who cares if they have visions of fame and fortune dancing in their heads ... I hope everyone's glass houses are still standing.

Okay I am not liking what is going. My gut felling is that she is not going too pick anyone. Something about Drew I do not like, Can not but my figure on it yet. I think he is the one that is going to brake her hart.

"Duh -- these mean aren't stupid." - I think you meant "Duh -- these MEN aren't stupid".  Always proofread twice.  As for the double-standard with the tattle-telling, I have to say, Ben is a perfect example of why the guys SHOULD listen to the chicks!!!  *shrugs* ah well, I watch this show because I feel SO much better about my own, relatively normal relationship afterwards lol.

With next weeks previews of the guys all getting into SUV's and leaveing w tears in their eyes, it looks like Ms Des is getting smart and sending them ALL home!!!   Probably her best decision under the circumstances !!!!!

Pretty sure Drew is gay.

Something is odd about Drew, and I think it's that he's going to admit that he misses Kasey and that's why it won't work w/ Desiree. I like Chris the best fo Des. He seems sweet, gentlemanly, mature yet still fun & playful.

After the Munich and Barcelona episodes the cat is finally out of the bag. Desiree may be a basically good person; BUT she is not what she's been advertised to be ... a devout born-again Christian with strong convictions and high standards.

For those not wise to the ways of German beer: The average alcohol content of German beer is 18%. The standard 12 oz. can of American beer is 6.5%. You do the math. In Munich, Des took on a half-gallon of local brew and never even blinked. Having a glass of wine at the weekly cocktail party is one thing ... what she did in Munich is something completely different.

Then during the Barcelona episode, Des was "bleeped" several times to edit out bad language. And it's not the first time she's let her tongue slip.

All doubts about her are now gone.  Despite anything you hear to the contrary, Desiree is the stereo-typical California fun-in-the-sun Bikini Beach girl who is definitely into the Hollywood lifestyle. I would describe her as being 27 going on 16, with the maturity of a sophomore.
