Happy birthday, Mr. Repressive Regime Leader Accused of Brutal Human Rights Violations, happy birthday to yoooou. This weekend Jennifer Lopez sang for the president of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow's birthday party. And yes, she even sang the song, "Happy Birthday, Mr. President." Nice gig, right? Welllll, maybe not if that president has been accused of a whole buffet table of human rights violations. You know, the usual: Censorship, ethnic cleansing, torture. What do you give the president who has too much? Your soul. Poor J Lo returned home to an ugly backlash. But she claims she had no idea her new BFF Gurby was such a stinker.
J Lo, your PA has Internet access, right?
Lopez's rep says, "Had there been knowledge of human rights issues any kind, Jennifer would not have attended." But come on, that's a pitiful excuse. If a world leader is flying you out and paying you a ridiculous sum of money to sing at his birthday party, shouldn't you do a little due diligence and check him out? At the very least, you should find out who the dude is for your own personal safety -- and the safety of your sweet little twins. Anyway, if you care about your peace of mind, maybe it's not such a good idea to entertain dictators.
J LO WORLD DICTATOR TOUR 2013 WOO HOO!
Do you think Jennifer Lopez (or her people) should have tried to find out about this guy before agreeing to do a gig for him?
