When it comes to higher education, the creme de la creme is schools like Harvard, Yale, or Oxford. But not to Kris Jenner. She tells The Hollywood Reporter:
It’s so funny that somebody can criticize a show like ours, and yet we employ hundreds of people. And it’s been such a great learning experience for all of my kids. It’s the best education I could offer them.
Hmm. Let's put on our thinking caps and debate.
While Kris has a point that her clan's various shows and myriad entrepreneurial endeavors employs hundreds people, I'm not sure that had anything to do with an education. Granted, Kris's kids are very successful in their chosen field -- reality TV. But that's a far cry from academia. Money isn't necessarily knowlege. There are plenty of rich dumbasses in the world.
Perhaps what Kris is trying to say is that her children received an education in business, since their reality exploits have led to so many business deals. But it's Kris that negotiates them. And she has a lot of help. There are lawyers involved. I highly doubt any of the clan sits down and goes through every licensee contract with a fine-tooth comb.
If Kris Jenner's education is Keeping Up with the Kardashians, then I guess Kim Kardashian's master's thesis was her sex tape. Or maybe her short-lived marriage. Perhaps she has two concentrations.
If everyone plays their cards right, the kids will never have to work again after the show ends. But plenty of rich celebrities go broke. Not that an education guarantees you won't ever go broke -- but it at least gives you something to fall back on. I'm not sure what the kids will be doing when they're in middle age. Hopefully, they're investing well.
I'm not knocking Kris for making her kids very successful. But you can't compare a reality show to Princeton. Well, I guess if you're Kris, you can. Hopefully there are no moms reading Kris's words and thinking, "To hell with that scholarship to Columbia! Let's get a reality show, kids!"
Do you think Kris gave her kids an education? Do you think it matters?
