There was a lot going on tonight on Keeping Up With the Kardashians (anyone else really miss when it used to be just 30 minutes?). With Brody and Bruce Jenner trying to repair their relationship, and Kris Jenner and the girls fighting the allegations made by Ellen Pearson, Robert Kardashian's ex-wife, emotions were running high. It was Rob Kardashian's struggle with his weight after gaining 50 pounds, however, that was the most heartbreaking.
He told Kim he felt like an embarrassment to his family. "I've never felt so depressed and so down in my life," he said. It was truly sad to see him like that.
Kim jumped in to help and started by weighing and measuring him. By her calculations, his body fat was about 50 percent. He had some major work to do, and seemed to be committed to doing it ... only he wasn't.
He skipped his workout sessions and kept up his steady diet of crap. Khloe and Kim then came up with what they thought was a great idea using reverse psychology. They knew someone who'd quit smoking after being locked in a phone booth with all of the cigarettes she could smoke and getting sick of them. They thought if they could do something similar with Rob and give him all the junk food he could eat, he'd get so sick of it, he'd be forever done with it.
It didn't quite work out that way though. The spread of pizza, burgers, fries, and more just made Rob eat more. He washed it all down with ice cream, then got up in the morning to eat another burger. Their plan was a big flop, and Kim decided he must have a food addiction.
Whatever the issue, he didn't appear to be in a place to address it. Kim was right in saying that he's going to have to help himself, because when it comes to weight loss, no one can do it for you. The good news, however, is that we know that sometime since then, he has gotten to that place and made some progress in his weight loss goals. So good for him. Hopefully we'll see that transformation start to play out during the rest of the KUWTK season.
As for the whole Brody and Bruce storyline, I have to say I was shocked to learn what an absent dad Bruce was from Brody's life. No wonder Brody was resentful. Bruce couldn't even call on his birthday? That's pretty bad. I'm glad to see they're going to work on things now, but it certainly puts a dent in that fantastic father image I had of Bruce for sure.
Do you think Rob Kardashian is addicted to food? Were you surprised to learn that Bruce was that absent from Brody's life?
