So, we may have chuckled about Bruce Jenner and his scary plastic surgery face a time or two over the years. A lot of people have, but it's Jimmy Fallon who the former Olympic champion took to task for his jokes about his face last year.
But that was a year ago. So when Bruce was Jimmy's guest on Late Night last night, I figured it would be funny and light, with Bruce and Jimmy laughing it all off. But no one was really laughing. Instead it was weird and uncomfortable.
While Bruce was supposed to be there promoting the new season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, he spent the whole time talking about how fine he was all of the jokes people make about his face. Instead of fine, however, he came off as bitter and defensive.
"I'm not trying to hide anything," Jenner said. "I had it done on camera in our show." Then he talked about how all the comedians pick the WORST pictures of him to make fun of, and then he whipped out some awkward pics of Fallon as payback.
The whole time he barely let poor Jimmy get a word in, and Jimmy seemed a little bewildered by it. But Bruce just wouldn't stop insisting how okay he is with all the jokes, which, of course, made it seem even less like he was okay with the jokes.
I can take it. I'm from the Kardashian group. We can take anything. We're invincible.
You can make all the jokes you want, but I can guarantee you, Mr. Fallon, my ass in a pair of running shorts looks a hell of a lot better than your ass.
That's definitely debatable ... and a bit disturbing to think about. Toward the end, he took another random turn and told Jimmy. "Kanye is really pissed. My good friend Kanye." Somehow I highly doubt that.
Poor Bruce. What's done is done, but I'm afraid he just set up himself for a whole new slew of jokes to start coming his way. After all, the best target is always the one who gives the strongest reaction.
Here's the awkward interview. See what you think.
What did you think of Bruce's response to all the plastic surgery jokes?
