If you had your heart set on Emilia Clarke starring as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, you might want to prepare for the worst. According to reports, Clarke, who currently stars on Game of Thrones, is tired of exposing her naked body on camera. She wants to be taken seriously as an actress and is worried that showing too much skin could be detrimental to her career.
If that's the case, if Clarke prefers to stay covered up (more power to her either way), then no, Fifty Shades is not the right movie for her. The flick will be rated R, if not NC-17, and there will be plenty of nude scenes. Heaps of nude scenes. Nude scenes out the eyeballs.
Clarke's not the only actress who's shying away from the part of Ana because of its inherent nakedness necessity. Mila Kunis has taken a similar stance and has said she's not a fan of full-on nudity. She explains she'll show some boob or some ass, but not both. It's one or the other as far as Mila is concerned.
Similarly, Skins actress Kaya Scodelario's name was thrown in the hat for the part of Ana, but she quickly squashed those rumors when she told Metro News she promised her mom she won't do any nude scenes, a commitment she intends to keep.
Emilia Clarke might have been perfect for the role, but it's better that she follows her heart, and her scruples. There ain't no shame in the no-nudity game, regardless of how many times they've been on TV prior.
