9 Most Shocking ‘Game of Thrones’ Deaths: Where Are the Actors Now? (PHOTOS)

Game of ThronesWell, it's no secret by now that Game of Thrones doesn't mind killing off its major characters. There have been so many twists and turns in this series, it's gotten a bit hard to keep track of everyone who's kicked the bucket. Especially since the premiere of "The Rains of Castamere," which -- yeah, still having a pretty hard time getting over that one.

From the shocking, crazy beheading that killed off a beloved character in season 1 to everything that went down during the Red Wedding, now's the time to look back and check out all those we lost -- and what the actors who played them are up to nowadays.

There are some obvious spoilers ahead. Do not proceed if you do not want to know who has died in Game of Thrones. Because there are a lot of them!

From Robb Stark to his mom Catelyn to his wife Talisa to Khal Drogo and Eddard Stark (those poor Starks!), here are the most shocking Game of Thrones deaths and what those very talented actors are doing nowadays.

Enjoy! Or cry. Either one!

Which death on this series has surprised you the most? Who do you miss the most (besides the direwolves)?

  • Richard Madden as Robb Stark

I think a lot of fans were pleasantly surprised by how much Richard Madden made Robb Stark so likable. Could be his ridiculous good looks and sexy accent, but now that he's sadly dead and gone as King in the North, expect to see him starring alongside Lily James and Cate Blanchett in Cinderella as Prince Charming. The Prince will rise again it seems!

  • Harry Lloyd as Viserys Targaryen

Viserys Targaryen, Daenerys's brother, was a character that was easy to hate throughout season 1. Forcing his sister to marry and being a bully and general idiot, he met his end when Khal Drogo melts a bunch of golden medallions and pours the pot over Viserys's head. What a way to go. Harry Lloyd, who played him, will star in the drama Closer to the Moon and a thriller called Narcopolis. Wonder if anyone will recognize him without that blonde wig?

  • Michelle Fairley as Catelyn Stark

Poor, poor Catelyn Stark, whose throat was slashed at the end of "The Rains of Castamere," so close to reuniting with one of her daughters, Arya. She'll never see her children again (... or will she?). Well, this gory end hasn't seemed to bother Michelle Fairley's career all that much, as she'll soon be starring in The Invisible Woman with Ralph Fiennes and Kristin Scott Thomas and will also be gracing the television again in a recurring role on season 3 of Suits.

  • Mark Addy as Robert Baratheon

Robert Baratheon was a funny, fat king who was killed by a wild boar after having too much to drink. Turns out it was his wife Cersei who wanted Robert dead, and he never found out about his children's true parentage. If you miss him, you can watch Mark Addy in the TV show The Syndicate.

  • Jason Momoa as Khal Drogo

Can't help but miss this gorgeous man, Jason Momoa as Khal Drogo, one half of the most perfect couple in all of television. Daario's got nothin' on Drogo. Sadly, he died of an infected wound in season 1, but his death inadvertently led to the birth of his wife Daenerys's dragons. As for Jason, you'll soon see him in a bunch of different films, like Road to Paloma, Wolves, and Debug. Though I don't think any Game of Thrones fans would complain if he made another cameo or two!

  • Sean Bean as Eddard Stark

No one could quite believe it when Eddard Stark's head was sliced off in episode 9 of season 1. Killing off the series' main hero was something no Game of Thrones fan saw coming (well, unless they read the book). Sean Bean was also one of the most well known actors on the show at the time -- now he's going to be Zeus in Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, as well as on a TV show called Legends and a sci-fi movie called Jupiter Ascending. We miss you, Ned! Your poor, poor family!

  • Oona Chaplin as Talisa Stark

Talisa Stark will most likely be remembered for dying one of the most gruesome, surprising deaths in all of Game of Thrones -- and that's saying a lot. The first to go in the Red Wedding, she was viciously stabbed in her pregnant stomach multiple times and bled to death. The beautiful Oona Chaplin will soon be seen in Powder Room, which could be the comedic release she needs after playing such a dramatic role that ended with such a dramatic death.

  • Gethin Anthony as Renly Baratheon

King Renly Baratheon was killed by a mysterious shadow creature birthed by the priestess Melisandre (yes this is a weird show). The good-looking, charismatic king that is no more was played by Gethin Anthony, who will soon be starring in Narcopolis and Hi-Lo Joe.

  • Hand as Jaime Lannister's Sword Hand

This is a death that shocked a ton of Game of Thrones fans. We all screamed in agony with Jaime Lannister as we watched his sword hand get chopped off. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the mchottie who plays Jaime, is in talks to lead Gods of Egypt and will also be in the comedy The Other Woman. But we can't forget the star we lost: Perhaps the sword hand will make an appearance as Thing in The Addams Family or do a cameo in Star Wars.
