Who knew? Courteney Cox and David Arquette have still been married all this time. The couple, who announced their split in October of 2010, officially got divorced this week in Los Angeles. After 11 years of marriage, Cox and Arquette filed for divorce in June of 2012 -- on the day of what would have been their thirteenth wedding anniversary. They cited "irreconcilable differences" as the cause of the split, and, well, I don't think I've ever seen a more civilized divorce. Some of the things Courteney has recently said about David are really ... nice.
Who are these people? And what have they done with the Hollywood celebrities we know and love?!
A few months ago, during an interview with Ellen, Courteney said of Arquette: "He's my best friend in the world. I love." She then added: "I don't recommend divorce in general, but he is my best friend and we've both grown and changed, and I think we both appreciate each other more." And mind you, Arquette started seriously dating Entertainment Tonight reporter Christina McLarty in September of 2011. Clearly, there are no ill feelings on Courteney's behalf.
More from The Stir: Courteney Cox & David Arquette Divorce Is Almost Cute
David and Courteney have a 9-year-old daughter together, Coco, so it's nice that they're conducting themselves in such a mature manner. But moreover, it's just refreshing to watch two famous people get along so well after a breakup. Sure, it's fun to read about the catty fights and petty money disagreements of people like Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, but at the end of the day, ask yourself this: Do you feel better about yourself and humankind afterwards? I didn't think so.
Although David has moved on since the split, Courteney has admit that she's still "just not ready" to date. (Good for her.) But I have a feeling when she is ready to put herself out there again, she'll have no problem finding a fine, young man.
What do you think of this?
