Do you remember when American Idol was the freshest, coolest show to hit the tube? Probably not. It's been a long time since that show was on top. Eleven years after its debut, its ratings have taken a serious nose dive. Well, producers may have finally found a way to revive the fledgling series with an awesome panel of new judges. I know, I know. You've heard that before and have been incredibly disappointed with that ridiculously volatile Mariah Carey-Nicki Minaj combo. But this time they have surely gotten it right. And the new judges are ...
Jennifer Hudson and, most likely, Kelly Clarkson, according to E! News. Apparently Jennifer has already signed on the dotted line and Kelly is pretty close. Amazing, right? It gets better. Another Idol alum may also join the panel. Adam Lambert's and Clay Aiken's names have popped up. With a panel like that, I would definitely tune in again and so should you. Here's why:
- They actually know what it's like to stand up there and be judged. The nerves, the fear, the anxiety as you wait for your performance to be mercilessly picked apart or, if you are lucky and talented enough, praised.
- They can actually sing. I love Paula Abdul but there are chihuahuas with better singing voices. And don't get me started on Nicki Minaj.
- They are likable. I've never heard a bad word about any of these folks. Kelly is like everyone's best friend. Jennifer is like the sister you've always wanted.
- They understand exactly what it will take to make it. Winning American Idol doesn't ensure automatic superstardom. These alums know the secret formula. Jennifer came in third for goodness sake and she is by far the most successful alum in the show's history.
Are you excited about these new judges? Will you watch them?
