Zoe Saldana might be famous for her year-long relationship with Bradley Cooper, but she recently revealed that she might eventually end up with a woman. She told Allure magazine, for whom she also posed topless:
"[I might] end up with a woman raising my children. That's how androgynous I am."
Uh, Zoe, I think there's a word for this and it's not "androgynous." That's more like when you crop your hair, wear boys' underpants, and maybe put on a bowler hat. What you're talking about is something called "bisexuality."
Zoe sounds like she's totally had it with dating celebs. "Been there, done that, got the T-shirt," she says. She also sounds, how do I say this, a little peeved with guys? She was engaged to Keith Britton for 11 years before dating my future husband Bradley Cooper. She says:
If I have something good in front of me, it doesn't matter if it's a person or a pair of shoes, I'm not going to test something else. It's insecure and it's immature.
Hm ... it's not really "immature" to try on another pair of shoes if you're uncertain with them. Is it? Damn. I am totally immature.
But I get her point about people. Sounds like she might have been with someone (anyone we know? cough) who kept "testing" others while he was with Zoe. And it totally wasn't Bradley Cooper.
Anyway, this just brings us round to the age-old question of whether there truly is such a thing as bisexuality, or whether it's just a pit stop to homosexuality. Because of my experience with this arena, I get emails from women asking this question about the guys they're dating. Because they'll meet a guy, really like him, and however many weeks or months into the relationship, the guy will confess he's "bi." But he's totally into her and not gay, he swears! So then she wants me to tell her what to do.
I do think people can be bisexual. I also think some people are in the midst of their sexuality morphing from straight to gay, and bisexuality is their rest stop. There are just no guarantees or road maps with human sexuality. I know people who've got from straight to gay and even a few who have gone back again.
Whatever lucky gal might end up with Zoe will probably be aware that she used to date men, that she even said she "worships" men. And she'll have to take her chances. But she (or he?) will be quite happy getting to gaze on Zoe for however long s/he gets to do it.
Do you believe in bisexuality?
