Between goodie two-shoes Emily Maynard and born-again virgin Sean Lowe, Bachelor and Bachelorette nation has been experiencing a fantasy suite dry spell. But! There's hope. Our season 9 Bachelorette Desiree Hartsock will reportedly take advantage of the sexy private time sans cameras with all three of her final suitors. ABC is touting Des' overnight dates as the most intimate and sensual ever.
I hope this means Des pulls an Ali Fedotowsky and actually takes her boyfriend(s) for a test drive before forking over a down payment, because honestly, it just makes sense.
Emily and Sean both had their final contenders over for some "quality time" in the private suite, but they were pretty upfront that they were not going to be getting physical. Ugh.
It's just annoying when the Bachelor or the Bachelorette suddenly pretends to have scruples about what is and isn't appropriate. You're on a goddamn reality show in which you're expected to "find true love" in six weeks in front of a crew of 200 people. There's nothing particularly genuine about that experience -- in fact, it's totally and completely unrealistic, if not 100 percent fake.
So if you've signed up for that, don't pretend that your moral compass won't allow you to have boys over to your apartment. I'm not saying they should or shouldn't have sex, but I do think it's really unfortunate that sex/getting intimate is sort of shamed, but getting married (ostensibly A LIFE-LONG COMMITMENT) to someone you've met on TV and have known for two months is not.
I'm happy to hear that Des decides to entertain her gentleman callers in her fantasy suite. At the very least, it shows she's an adult who can make her own choices and isn't afraid what some conservative viewers may or may not assume about her time with a man in private, at night, off-camera.
What do you think about the fantasy suite situation?
