'DWTS' Recap: Kellie Pickler & Derek Hough Get an Unexpected Surprise

TV Addict 46

Kellie Pickler & Derek HoughThere are only six couples left on Dancing With the Stars, and tomorrow night, someone has to go. Yep, we're getting down to the wire here, people -- and all the "bad" dancers have been weeded out, meaning the remaining contestants really can't afford to screw up anymore.

And tonight's double dance night, featuring individual performances and trios, really separated the winners from the losers. We may still have a few weeks to go, but it's pretty obvious who will wind up competing in the final three. I'm going to go ahead and predict that it will come down to Zendaya and Val Chmerkovskiy, Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough, and Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff duking it out for the mirror ball trophy. (Or maybe Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas in place of Jacoby and Karina. Maybe.)

But out of those couples, one duo definitely got a shock they weren't expecting during the trio dances. Kellie and Derek's trio paso doble with Tristan MacManus was hot, hot, H-O-T -- but for whatever reason Len Goodman didn't dig it, which is why he wound up giving them a seven. A SEVEN!! After Carrie Ann and Bruno gave them both 10s? What the heck?

Ok, so I can maybe understand giving them a nine if he wasn't totally impressed with their performance -- but a seven? Really? They didn't deserve a score that low.

And hopefully, it won't wind up hurting their chances of making it to the next round. They deserve to be where they are -- and they certainly did a better job earning their spot than Sean Lowe and Ingo Rademacher.

OMG. It's SO gonna be one of those two dudes going home this week. And unless there's some sort of miracle, I'm really thinking this is the end of the road for Ingo. I know he got higher scores than Sean, but he doesn't have The Bachelor fan base to fall back on like Mr. Lowe does, which may prove to be his downfall. (Does anyone really watch soap operas anymore? I didn't think so.)

Do you think Kellie and Derek deserved that seven from Len? Who do you think will go home this week?

Kelly and Derek DEFINITELY DID NOT, I REPEAT, DID NOT, DESERVE A 7 FROM LEN. THEY WERE TERRIFIC AND I THINK LEN HAS A PROBLEM IF HE COULD DO SOMETHING SO LOW! I DON'T EVEN WANT TO SEE HIM AS A JUDGE ANYMORE. GO HOME LEN! ! ! YOU ARE NOT A FAIR JUDGE IN MY EYES ANYMORE.

What happened to Len tonight? I think he is losing it !! Kelli was almost in tears and her dance was so beautiful...she didn't deserve that. Len I have no respect for you...time to leave. By the way they deserved all 10s!!!

no way in a million years!!.. how could be so far off the other judges did h decide he didn't like Kelly and wants to promote another dancer by giving them makes no sense low score

Mary Gover

It was a shame Len scored them that low. What is wrong with him.

I think it was just a way to introduce controversy into this competition. Len has been very complimentary to Kellie and Derek all season and really hasn't been much of his curmudgeonly self with anyone. I'm sure they can survive this uncalled for low score. Remember last season Derek and Shawn got a similar 7 from Len for their awesome avante garde tribal samba trio and they survived that as well.

Going out on a limb here. Len is understandably tired of dancers not doing the dance assigned. Kellie/Derek didn't do paso doble, as good as whatever they did was. Last week Ali Raisman did not dance salsa, she shimmied and did cat cow yoga poses on the floor. On her hands and knees? She passed that off for salsa? She didn't deserve the high marks she got last week.

Kellie and Derek deserved better from Len ... but then, Len is Len. I think they are fabulous dancers! Team Kellie/Derek!

I though Len was way out of line with the way he even started his criticism. That is the worst I have ever seen out of any of the judges. Kelly got some of my votes last night.

Pat Lindsey

Len was WAY off base with the 7 score! Did he nod off during the performance??

I think Len has a stick up his butt and he really should retire because he is so extremely judgemental.  If you want to draw in younger audience get rid of the old dead wood!  Sorry Len, but your time in the ballroom world is expiring! Their dance was excellent and to get 10's from the other 2 judges and a 7 from his just goes to show he's losing it!
