Reese Witherspooon & Husband Bickering in Back Seat of Squad Car Shows Us Who's Boss (VIDEO)

Eye Roll 10

Reese WitherspoonI have to say, Reese Witherspoon's arrest tapes are SO much better than Legally Blonde 2. And they just keep on a comin'! It's a whole franchise at this point. First we heard about how when Reese and her agent husband, Jim Toth, were arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, Reese got all on her high horse and pulled that old "Don't you know who I AM?" routine. Then we heard how Reese claimed to be pregnant to use the bathroom. Reese swears she's not really pregnant and was just saying "crazy stuff." But it would be pretty embarrassing if it turned out she was pregnant and sloshed, eh? Now another tape has come out that records Reese bickering in the backseat of the squad car with her husband. It really gives you some insight as to who calls the shots in this marriage. And you probably already know it's not Jim!

Once Reese is cuffed and put in the back of the car with her blotto husband, who was arrested on a DUI charge, Jim sighs like a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders and asks, "Whyyy are you doing this?"

"He's arresting us," observes the astute Reese.

"I understand but -- " Jim hopelessly tries to interject.

"For what? What have I done?"

"He told you to stop," Jim says, sounding a little slurry.

"I'm an American citizen. I can say whatever I want to," Reese whines. Poor Reese. She thinks she's on a movie set and the cop is the gaffer! "He does not have jurisdiction over the ground that he speaks on," she continues, making no sense.

"All you should have done is let me get arrested," insists Jim, sounding like an excellent agent. "You wouldn't listen to what he said. And you kept getting out of the car."

"I threatened him and put him in a position where he feels vulnerable? Come on, honey. Come on!"

"You just turned it really bad," sighs Jim.

Well, okay, so it's not Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? but it's pretty hee-lair, eh? Actually, if this is as bad as it gets between these two,  they might stay married for a very long time!

What do you think of Reese's latest arrest rant?

I think it's crappy it's out in public. Just saying. I don't care that she is a celebrity...I wouldn't want my dirty laundry hung out to dry.

Two things that are interesting about this- Reese doesn't have a southern accent in this soundtrack and the picture you have of her (to promote your video) is with blonde hair; and when this this event transpired she is/was a brunette.

Actually, Reese was right, she can say whatever she wants, and certainly the cop has no jurisdiction over the ground he speaks on... it's something about individual rights that keeps getting swept under the rug because intimidating tactics by the police tend to work most of the time with obedient citizens... Bravo, Reese!

I applaud Reese's husband because even intoxicated, he understands the law and the gravity of what she was doing , even though she seems not to. Not only do you stay in the car when an officer tells you to, you surely don't get out and then walk over to the cop while he's handcuffing another person.

This cop is alone, doesn't know who you are, and cannot have a person walking up on him while he's conducting a sobriety field test. In his mind, Reese could either attack him or distract him so the husband attacks him because things like that have happened and officers have been killed.

It's only funny because nothing happened and she's a star. Why some people are defending her actions is strange to me especially when she has taken full responsibility for her actions,,commended the officer for his and acknowledges that she didn't know what the hell she was saying. So cheering Reese on is a bit silly because nothing she was saying or doing was correct.

Yes we as Americans have the "right" to say what we want, but you can't break the law (which she was doing) while doing it and not expect consequences. That cop is the law and he did his job correctly.

I think it proves that she is human just like the rest of us. We all make mistakes. If defending her husband is the worst of her offenses in life then I dont see the big deal. The cop handled this the way he had too, and treated her like anybody else.

She sounds like a spoiled brat. Making movies does not make you queen of the universe. America's sweetheart, my foot. Really stupid and unattractive behavior.

I honestly lost all respect for her. I have no respect for anyone that drinks then drives really. Did they forget they have kids at home? What if they hit someone? All that money and not a lick of sense to call a driver. Just plain sad and pathetic.

I've always thought Reese had a drinking problem. When she married Toth it seemed like the perfect mix (as in "mixed drink.")which doesn't bode well for a long-term relationship or, in this case, a marriage.

I love this conversation. Jim Toth remains so calm, that is admirable. Very funny and entertaining. How could this be taped though?
by the police?

She had to go and throw her celebrity status at the cop.  What an ego trip she's on!  I'm tired of celebrities who feel that they are better than everyone else.  All they do is pretend for a living.  Heck, I can pretend too!  Still, I don't think she deserved to be arrested for speaking up, but this is exactly what the police do. I guess we're not allowed our freedom of speech when it comes to the police!
