So it took a little over a week, but Reese Witherspoon is finally speaking out about her disorderly conduct arrest after husband Jim Toth was arrested for a DUI. The Sweet Home Alabama star sat down for a one-on-one with Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos looking remorseful. Saying that she "panicked" and admitting to saying all sorts of crazy things from "Do you know who I am?" to "I'm pregnant!"
"I said all sorts of crazy things," Witherspoon jested. "I know better. It's just unacceptable."
Wow. I honestly expected this whole first interview shebang to be a much bigger train wreck. I wondered if there would be tears (there wasn't) and thought she'd be a little choked up. But Reese held it together, told the truth, and I think that despite what happened being totally irresponsible -- the woman's come out of this with respect.
Watch Reese's GMA interview, here:
Reese knows what she did was wrong. She apologized at least four times throughout the one-on-one with George. Unlike so many other celebrities who get into trouble and claim they "didn't know what they did was wrong," or pretend it didn't happen entirely (I'm looking at you, Farrah Abraham) -- Reese is tackling this head on and moving forward.
This is the kind of behavior worth looking up to. As Reese mentioned, it won't be easy talking to her kids about the incident, but at least years from now, she can look back and be proud of the way she handled it.
