'DWTS' Recap: Aly Raisman & Mark Ballas Totally Got the Shaft (VIDEO)

TV Addict 5

Aly Raisman Mark BallasWhew! Is it hot in here or is it just me? Latin night definitely kicked things up a notch on tonight's episode of Dancing With the Stars, and we got to enjoy some of the most entertaining performances of the season thus far.

But aside from the extra hip shaking and sex appeal, what was up with the whole immunity thing? I mean, I know they have to keep things interesting and change up each season a bit, but I'm just not sure how I'm feeling about DWTS meeting Survivor.

And while I guess I can see giving a little extra credit to the couple with the highest score of the night -- something about the immunity challenge just seemed unfair.

Especially since Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas totally got screwed. When they tied for first place with Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough, I figured there would be some sort of dance-off between the two couples to see who wound up winning immunity. But instead, they had to go and give it to Kellie and Derek, the couple with the highest overall score of the season. That was the tie breaker. No warning. No nothin'. (Unless I missed that part somehow.)

Am I the only one who thinks that was really, really unfair to Mark and Aly? They earned their 29 points just like Kellie and Derek -- and Mark even danced with an injury. If nothing else, they should've had the chance to face off one more time to try and win the chance to stay safe during tomorrow night's elimination.

Just in case you missed their Salsa, take a look at the clip below. (Um, they were awesome.)

Even the dance-off between the six remaining couples to score a few extra points with the judges seemed a bit biased too. If they really wanted to give everyone a fair shot, they would've had the bottom two teams dance off for the extra points -- not the rest of the crew.

It will be interesting to see who winds up going home tomorrow night, extra points or not. And I'm pretty confident in calling it at this point. My prediction? This was Andy Dick's last week in the ballroom.

Do you think Aly and Mark were treated unfairly?

Yes they were treated unfairly. They should have been safe and now everyone is blaming them for taking it easy and picking Andy to dance off. Go Team Aly and Mark!

I think Mark and Aly should have been safe or had a dance off with Derek and Kellie. If their going to change things up I think there should be scoring on the Pros as well since they are the teachers and Choreographers. Or even switch partners that would be really interesting to see who can get the best performance out of the Celebs, I think Cheryl Burke would have gotten better results with Andy

I just think they had some time constraints to deal with and did not have had time for a Kellie-Aly dance off, too...so this was plan B. Better than tossing a coin, I guess.

I agree with you 100%! It definitely was unfair and they didn't explain it or anything. It was just.. "the two top scoring couples of the night! It's a tie! It's Kellie and Derek!" And Penny, I agree with you, too. I was upset for that moment and also when comments kept flaring out about "let's pick on someone our own size" "If you want to be the best you have to beat the best." They weren't taking it easy. As shown on Mark, Aly, and Sharna's Twitter, they coordinated it! They both wanted Cha Cha!

I agree too! I hope they interview Aly and Sharna and explain the reasoning...too many fans are giving them slack for it and it's completely not fair. Val needs to apologize to sweet Aly ASAP!
