If your reaction to hearing that Chris Brown and Rihanna were officially back together was one of dismay, you're hardly alone. I'd guess that for every fan that was rooting for the two lovebirds to make it, at least 20 people cringed and hoped we wouldn't all eventually be treated to Rihanna's Battered Face, Part 2: The Sadly Predictable Bruisening.
As it turns out, one of the folks who isn't happy at all about Chris Brown and Rihanna's much-publicized reunion is Brown's own father. His reasoning? Their famously tumultuous relationship is unbalanced, and the end result may be very tragic.
Brown's dad is likely only saying what plenty of folks are thinking -- but wait until you hear what celebrity he thinks his son SHOULD be with instead.
In an interview with the NY Daily News, Chris Brown's father Clinton Brown said that he believes there was more to the 2009 domestic violence incident between Brown and Rihanna than what was reported:
One has to assume because they are back together that it wasn’t one-sided. You just have to imagine it was a circumstance in which they both had a disagreement.
Well, the police report says Chris Brown repeatedly shoved, punched, bit, and choked Rihanna until she looked like this, but sure, they probably "both had a disagreement." They wouldn't have gotten back together if it was a clear-cut case of abuse, right? (Wrong: 85 percent of abused women return to their abuser.)
Anyway, Clinton Brown went on to say that regardless of what happened in the past, he's not a fan of their reunion:
I personally really didn’t want him and Rihanna back together. You have to have a balance in a relationship. You have to have someone who is spontaneous and whimsical but you also have to have someone who is grounded and logical. I hate to use examples, but Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Amy Winehouse — I mean I could go on and on! Is that a given — that you can’t have fortune and fame without (death) being the end result?
Those are maybe some extreme examples, but I see what he's saying. Although "spontaneous and whimsical" is certainly an interesting descriptor here.
As for who he'd rather see Chris Brown with? A nice non-celebrity, maybe? Not really: if he could play matchmaker for his son, he'd pick the 23-year-old American Idol winner who once collaborated with Brown on the song “No Air."
I personally liked Jordin Sparks. She’s a wholesome young lady, very pretty.
Oh MAN. Run, Sparks. RUN LIKE HELL.
Are you surprised Chris Brown's dad was this open about his son's personal life?
