Lovers of Magic Mike, meet lovers of Old Hollywood, and together, rejoice! 20th Century Fox has gotten their paws on the rights to Guys and Dolls, and it looks like we can look forward to Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt kicking up their handsome heels in the roles made famous by Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra -- Sky Masterson and Nathan Detroit.
Now that you're done fantasizing and drooling -- this does beg the question: DO WE REALLY NEED A REMAKE OF GUYS AND DOLLS?
Of course, the answer is NO, no we do not. But that hasn't stopped Hollywood before, why should it now? And at least we'll get to enjoy not only Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt together on the big screen, but Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt singing and dancing together on the big screen. Happy birthday to us!
This is absolutely perfect casting. My BFF and I have a little something we call The Venn Diagram, an imaginary circle chart, if you will, so we can see where her celeb crushes intersect with mine. We've spent a lot of wine-fueled time on this. For example, she's got Philip Seymour Hoffman over on her side; I have Hugh Jackman over on my side, and in the middle goeth Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is the perfect combination of quirky weirdo and hottie, we feel. Don't you agree? JUST LIKE FRANK SINATRA!
Then you have the universal master of all Venn diagrams: Channing Tatum, the smoldering beefcake for us all. Of course, no one can fill Brando's shoes, but, I mean, just picture this with Channing:
Not too shabby, hmm? SRSLY cannot wait. I wonder who they'll cast as "the Dolls"? I'm available, Hollywood!
