Slowly, but surely, more details are emerging about the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. It almost seems like the producers themselves are getting antsy! Because now, after hearing for months who fans want to play the lead roles, we're hearing who the suits behind the flick may be hoping to cast.
Yesterday, we caught wind of Alex Pettyfer being the closest thing to a legit contender for Christian Grey -- thanks to director Gus Van Sant -- and today ... HollywoodLife.com is reporting that "an insider VERY close to the production" says if producers Dana Brunetti and Michael De Luca have their way, Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence will step into the role of Anastasia Steele. This insider also spilled on the production schedule and location ...
Apparently, they'll begin rolling in London (whaaa??) in a year -- as in spring 2014. Guess we can kiss that rumored summer 2014 release date goodbye. Not that surprising, though, being that they don't even have a script, and filming/post-production can take a year or more. That said, if this is true, seems as though we'll be seeing Christian and Ana on the big screen in 2015. Maybe!

And Jennifer Lawrence as Ana, eh? Sounds like the producers are just itching to work with her, because she's A Name and they want to bring Fifty Shades to the next level with some serious talent. I don't blame them, but at the same time, is she really the right fit? I'm not seeing it. Maybe as Kate Kavanaugh, but not as innocent, naive Ana. She may be the right age, but she comes off as too mature, edgy, sarcastic. Plus, she's got plenty on her plate with the Hunger Games trilogy. Will she even be done playing Katniss by the time this starts filming? Doubtful.
But hey, if she does nab the part, they could do worse than a twice-nominated, once awarded Oscar-worthy actress!
How do you feel about the possibility of JLaw as Ana? What about the belated filming?
