'DWTS' Recap: Zendaya & Val Chmerkovskiy Finally Get What They Deserve (VIDEO)

We all know they have to change things up a bit from season to season on Dancing With the Stars to keep things interesting and all -- but what was up with tonight's side-by-side dances?

I know they were probably supposed to help kick the competition up a notch, but did anyone else find them really, really distracting? At times, it was tough to differentiate between the contestants and the pros, to the point where it was hard to tell whether the couples were doing really well -- or if we were simply mistaking them for professional ballroom dancers.

If nothing else, tonight's performances gave the front runners on this season of DWTS a chance to shine. And by far, the best dance of the night was Zendaya and Val Chmerkovskiy's Argentine Tango featuring Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Anna Trebunskaya.

Holy moly. You saw their performance, right? Here's the clip -- do yourself a favor and take a look again.

Good GAWD. Did those two deserve the 10s they got from Carrie Ann and Bruno, or what?

Um, finally Zendaya and Val are getting the credit they so rightfully deserve. Zendaya's been the best dancer of Season 16 since the competition started, and it's about time she and Val earned an almost perfect score.

I know there are quite a few weeks left to go, but if Zendaya doesn't wind up in the finals, it will seriously be a crime. She's awesome. (And let's be honest, watching Val move his delicious self around the dance floor each week isn't half bad either.)

At this point, if I had to guess, I'd say it will come down to Zendaya, Kellie Pickler, and Jacoby Jones duking it out for the mirror ball trophy. And as for who will probably go home this week, I'll be shocked if it's not D.L. Hughley. He's a funny dude, but he's seriously lacking in the moves department.

Do you think Zendaya deserved the 10s she received?
