If you've been counting down the days until the premiere of The Bachelorette, then you may want to try and locate an extra set of hands. ABC has decided to push Desiree Hartsock's premiere date back from May 20 at 9 p.m. to May 27 at 8 p.m., leading all of us to wonder what in the hell is going on.
That's, like, a whole extra week that we have to wait to get our fix of the drama, tears, ridiculous comments, and make-out sessions that we've been desperate for ever since Bachelor Sean Lowe got down on one knee and proposed to Catherine Giudici.
Soooo, what gives?
Well, supposedly a new ABC show, called Motive, has been slated to go in The Bachelorette's original time slot, so Des is getting moved back a week and pushed up an hour.
Hmm. Sounds reasonable enough. But it's hard not to wonder if there's more going on here than meets the eye.
Let's cut to the chase -- Des is pretty boring. (Yes, she is. Don't even try and deny it.) Sure, she's a sweet girl and all, but there's nothing that really stands out about her that promises to make her season particularly interesting (unless, of course, her brother shows up and harasses the guys).
Could it be that producers figure they'll need that extra week to edit the show and try to piece together a few more bits of entertaining drama? Or maybe they need to film a week longer in order to conjure up more reality TV worthy material?
Another possibility, albeit a remote one, is that Desiree's season will wind up being canceled. Maybe it's so boring already that ABC went ahead and built another week in to give them more time to figure out if it's even worth putting on the air. Again, this scenario isn't likely -- but it wouldn't be that much of a shock if it happened.
But if it really is merely a case of The Bachelorette being bumped to a new time slot, I guess we just have to hope that maybe Desiree will surprise us and be a lot more interesting and fun than we're anticipating. If not, maybe we can at least count on the dudes being pretty hot this time around.
Do you think Desiree's season will be a success?
