'Real Housewives of Orange County' Recap: Vicki & Tamra Make Up ... Sort Of

Tamra Barney and Vicki GunvalsonTonight on The Real Housewives of Orange County, Vicki Gunvalson and Tamra Barney finally came face to (new) face after their explosive feud last season. When Vicki jokingly said Tamra was giving her the evil eye, the night seemed destined for disaster, but it actually turned out better than expected.

Tamra stormed off mid-meal at one point, but Heather Dubrow took a break from expounding seafood etiquette ("just let it come in your mouth" -- ha!) to give her a pep talk. She told her this was her chance for a do-over, and that she should go back and make things right with Vicki.

So during dessert Tamra grabbed Vicki and locked the two of them in the wine cellar to have a heart-to-heart. There was reminiscing, I'm sorry's said, and a general expression that they both missed each other. Of course, then they both said to the camera that they'll never trust the other again, but it was progress.

The biggest barrier to their friendship being resurrected might not be their grudges, however. Instead, it seems Gretchen Rossi and Tamra's fiance, Eddie Judge, are dead set against the idea of them reconciling. Gretchen's reasons are entirely selfish -- she likes having a BFF on her side and doesn't want Vicki butting back in between her and Tamra. She seems determined to do whatever she can to keep them apart, but at least Tamra is smart enough to know her motives. "I think in the back of Gretchen's mind, she thinks, 'If you become friends with Vicki again, shit is gonna happen with us,'" she told the cameras.

Eddie also had some harsh words about Vicki, but his motives may be more pure. "She’s about lying, cheating, and deceiving," he told Tamra. "I highly recommend you don’t become friends with her again. She’s only going to hurt you again."

So it's going to be a tough road for Tamra and Vicki if they really want to repair their friendship. It's going to get even tougher if/when Brooks Ayers comes back into the picture. So I don't know. I'm kind of rooting for them to, as I think they can be good for one another, but I'm not banking on it by any means. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

As for Alexis Bellino ... how freaking annoying are she and Jim? We've got to hope she mixes with the rest of the ladies soon, because I don't think I can take much more of their syrupy solo show.

Do you think Vicki and Tamra will be able to repair their friendship? Do you think they should?

I’m not sure Vicki and Tamra can renew their friendship if they do not trust each other. Heather’s clambake etiquette lesson was priceless, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she can turn this into a new book. I started working new hours at DISH, so I was not home when this episode of the Real Housewives of Orange County aired. Great thing, my DISH Hopper was there to record this episode for me. This DVR is the only one that has the ability to record up to 2,000 hours of my favorite shows. It has given me the freedom to record the full season of the Real Housewives of Orange County, and the full seasons of my other favorite shows that air the same night.
