Kate Hudson found out she was pregnant TWO MONTHS after she met Muse rocker Matthew Bellamy. Three years later, they're still together, and Hudson says that while the pregnancy was a shocker, it made her relationship even better.
After Hudson and Bellamy met at Coachella, she tells Elle U.K.'s May issue, "It was all very old-fashioned and proper and we went on lovely dates, but two months later I was pregnant." Hmm, some people might disagree with Kate's idea of "old-fashioned" -- but I can relate to what she says about the pregnancy and how it was going to seal the couple's fate ...
Well, yes I was shocked, but I also thought: 'This is going to be interesting.' I knew it would take a strong man to deal with it. You know that with a relationship, things can go either way when you have a child. When you get pregnant, everything changes: you, your body. Everything becomes a big decision, but he was there and that was that.
That's a pretty major thing to "deal with," right? My own pregnancy came surprisingly early into my relationship too, and though it certainly shook things up, and made them harder in a lot of ways, 10 years later we're still together. I think it's comparable to trial by fire -- if you can get through a major upheaval (and by upheaval I mean literally: I threw up for about two straight months) like that together, and have more good moments that bad, then you KNOW you've found someone amazing who will really be there for you through all of life's craziness.
Sometime after Hudson gave birth to Bingham in July 2011, she and Bingham's daddy got engaged, though Hudson isn't in any hurry to tie the knot.
"We will get married. I do think it's important but we have no plans," she says, adding that Ryder (her older son with ex-hubby Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes) "wants a party." She does say that being of mom of two has changed her: "I'm a lot less a rock chick and a lot more about being a good mother, a good partner," she says. "I'm part of a family."
Sounds like a pretty happy family, which just goes to show that while you never know what crazy twist and turns life might offer, as Hudson says, "Things happen for a reason!"
Did pregnancy show your what kind of man your mate was?
