Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom are eyeball-deep in scalding hot water right now, as it's being reported that Odom's cancer charity, Cathy's Kids, is a scam. Lamar set up Cathy's Kids in 2004 in honor of his late mother, who died of stomach cancer when he was 12. The supposed purpose of the charity was to raise money for cancer-related causes, but according to records obtained by ESPN's Outside the Lines, no money has ever gone to anything of the sort.
ESPN found that of the $2.2 million, $1.3 million has been used to fund two "elite" youth basketball teams (kids who are so good at b-ball, they're already positioned for college scholarships, etc.), but the other $900,000? No one knows. Thus far, there's no evidence of any of the money going towards anything associated with cancer. In fact, there's no evidence of where the money's gone at all. And when Lamar was questioned by an ESPN camera crew about the controversy recently, he simply said: "It's my money." Shady.
Naturally, everyone has been quick to blame Khloe and mom Kris Jenner, because everything bad in the world can pretty much be linked back to Kris Jenner. But ... is it really their fault? Yes, Khloe's standing by her man, as most husbands/wives are wont to do -- and hey, maybe she even knew what Lamar was doing -- but, the charity was started nine years ago. Khloe and Lamar didn't even know each other then. If it's anyone's fault, it's Lamar's and Lamar's only.
It's a damn shame that something like this is happening -- not only because it's completely gross, but because Lamar has always seemed like a nice guy, who got a bad rap for getting mixed up with the Kardashians. But it really is hard to blame them for this one. Looks like you've got some 'splainin' to do, Lamar.
What do you think of this?
