Last night Lindsay Lohan tweeted out a surprise pregnancy announcement to all her fans and followers. Her tweet read:
"It's official. Pregnant."
Many are saying it was an April Fools' joke, though it was late, long after the day had ended on the East Coast. I am not so sure. She has a boyfriend, after all. She is dating musician Avi Snow. Still, it would be a mess if she were. She has all kinds of legal troubles and is going into rehab soon.
If it were true, though. Wow, this would be news. And maybe it wouldn't be all bad. Don't people often clean up their act when a baby is involved?
I know, I know. But don't break out the pitchforks just yet. Look at Snooki. She used to be a wild child and now she is a super mom. Maybe Lindsay could do that, too. Maybe this could be the real turnaround Lindsay needs.
On the other hand, it's probably a joke. That is much more her. It's a dumb joke, to be sure. I think everyone and their grandmother tried this one on Facebook five years ago. It's just not that funny anymore.
But here I am writing about it. Here we ALL are reading about it and writing about it, so clearly it worked. She has 5.7 million followers, so naturally this went viral in about 10.3 seconds once she tweeted it at 10:30 p.m. PST.
In the end, I think it's a joke. But if it weren't, it wouldn't be horrible news. It's possible, maybe, that she would get herself together, get clean, and be a good mom.
I don't care what anyone says about her. I still have hope that the little girl from Parent Trap is in there somewhere. Maybe motherhood would make her remember how innocent children are and how much they need to be protected. Maybe it would make her strive to be a better parent than she had. Maybe. One can hope, right?
Do you think this was a joke?
**Lohan revealed it was a joke with this tweet: "April Fools. Where's everyone's sense of humor?"
