'Game of Thrones' or 'Walking Dead'? How to Deal With This Tragic TV Situation

TV Addict 11

Game of Thrones Walking DeadIf you, like me, are a rabid fan of both The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, you know what's happening this Sunday. That's right, we've got AMC's season finale of Walking Dead at 9 p.m., which is the exact time the season premiere of Game of Thrones airs on HBO. It's either the greatest night in small-screen history -- or the Sophie's Choice of television viewing options.

I mean, the ideal situation is to settle into your comfiest ass-dent in the couch and watch them both on Sunday evening, one right after the other. But if you've only got time for one, how can you choose which to watch and which to record for later? Let's discuss the very important factors that go into making this sort of critical decision.

Which spoilers would bug you more? Spoilers are a legitimate concern, because you know everyone's going to be blathering about both shows online as soon as they air. If you're planning to watch one on Sunday and one the next day, which spoilers have the most potential to detract from your viewing experience? I'm thinking that while it wouldn't be entirely unexpected for something major to happen in the Game of Thrones premiere episode, the Walking Dead finale's going to have the most Holy Shit moments. So for this reason alone, you might want to go with AMC just so you don't run the risk of seeing some jerk's tweet: "I can't believe they killed Rick!"

(Note: As of this writing, Rick is not dead. That's just an example. Don't egg my house.)

What story are you currently more invested in? Again, I'm leaning towards Walking Dead here, only because we've been watching it all season. Yes, I've been looking forward to GoT for months, and in my opinion it's the far better show between the two, but ... you know, season finale. I'm dying to see how they wrap up the Woodbury/prison storyline, and in comparison, I can wait an extra day to get re-immersed in Westeros.

What type of zombie do you prefer? Do you like your undead to be the blue-eyed white walker variety, or the rotted once-human biting kind?

Who's hotter, Daryl or Jon Snow? I do love Jon Snow's emo ways, but I'm going to have to go with Daryl.

What's more important to you, epic amounts of gore or lots of sex? If you're looking for sex, the choice is clear. Game of Thrones is positively ROILING with it, with all sorts of glistening naked body parts on display in nearly every episode. But if you're looking for actual human intestines, exploding skulls, and chewed-open chest cavities, it's Walking Dead for the win.

Which show are you recapping? Because if you're me, it's The Walking Dead. I'm a little bummed I can't watch both shows in an epic snack-filled night of TV awesomeness, but let us all take a moment to sing the praises of the DVR. These important life decisions used to be SO much more difficult.

What will you be watching Sunday night? Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, or both?
