Every time a new actor has been floated for the part of Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, we've gotten excited but had no concrete evidence that there might ever be a real chance of the guy being considered, let alone cast. (Yes, sorry, that includes Ian Somerhalder!) Now, that's all about to change, because Stephen Amell, the leading actor on The CW's show Arrow, spilled in a Facebook video post that he's had more involvement with the film than perhaps any other hottie in Hollywood ...
He had a meeting about it. Oh. Yes.
In the vid, Stephen confesses:
I get questions about Christian Grey all the time. That project is a long way off. I know this, because I had a meeting about it. Long way off. I mean, not that long, but not close. I wouldn't call it long, but I wouldn't call it close.
Wow, okay, E.L. James! I mean, Stephen Amell. As annoying as that oft-repeated line about the movie being a "long way off" is, the guy seems to be on the same page as the series' author. And that's a HUGE sign that he actually could be close to signing on as Christian. Guess it shouldn't come as that much of a surprise, considering how E.L. James claimed she was getting pitched by actors right and left at Vanity Fair's Oscar party. Maybe Stephen was one of those actors, and she was intrigued so she sat down with him, and even with the film being soooo far off (in other words, NOT "close"!), she said, "I like you, I really like you" and tacked his name onto a super-confidential short list of potential Christians. Just a theory!
In the meantime, I could totally see him as the BDSM-obsessed billionaire. Now, who will be the first actress to reveal she's had a meeting to play Ana?!
What do you think about Stephen Amell as Christian?
