‘Teen Mom’ Star Wants to Join Military & We Think This Is a Great Idea!

Ryan and MacyThe drama is never-ending on MTV's Teen Mom. We can't go a day without one of the stars getting arrested, engaged, dumped, or in a brawl. With all that madness, it's hard to accept that these kids are parents and supposed role models to tiny, impressionable children. Sometimes I wonder if they are just raising the next generation of Teen Mom stars. The latest bit of news about Maci Bookout's baby daddy Ryan Edwards, however, gives me hope for the future of at least their son. After I don't know how many seasons of ridiculously childish behavior, he may be finally growing up. Ryan wants to join the military and it could be the best thing for Bentley.

According to Wetpaint.com, the reality star is seriously thinking about enlisting. Recently Ryan tweeted, "Really thinking about the core!" (Presumably, he meant the corps.) Fans responded with a show of support, encouraging him to do it and not to be held back by the fact he's a father to a young child.

I admit, the thought of anyone going off to war is frightening to me. I wouldn't wish that harsh reality on anyone. But the fact of the matter is, it's an admirable thing for a young person to do. And in the case of someone like Ryan, it could give him the direction and discipline he needs. From what we see of his life now, he seems a bit lost, angry, and resentful. That must affect Bentley to a certain degree. It's clear that he loves his son and wants what's best for him, but I'm not sure he knows what that entails. Perhaps this will give him the chance to figure it out.

Ryan certainly holds men and women in the military in high regard, also tweeting, "Any man or woman that has been in the service has my up most [sic] respect." I bet he wouldn't mind being on the receiving end of that type of esteem and reverence. As scary as that experience would be, signing up could help turn him into a responsible adult and wonderful role model for his child.

Do you think Ryan is serious about joining the military?

Oh sweet lord I hope not. I don't think he has the discipline and drive to become a part of the military. If he does good for him, but I personally don't think he has what it takes, especially in the Army. Lord help the boy if he chooses a combat position.

I see now he wants to be a Marine. Either way, I've met a lot, a lot, a lot of people who's families hoped the military woukd make a man out of their boy or give them that direction and responsibility. It doesnt work like that. The boy had to want to change and accept it. It's not a magic switch that gets turned right when you go to basic.

Just hope he doesn't get his hopes up.

I think that anyone who even thinks about joining deserves respect and those that actually do join, deserve the most respect. A lot of guys that I graduated with and some of my boyfriend's class joined and I have the up most respect for all of those guys even though some of them were total douche bags in high school.

Doesn't he have a history of DUIs? Not sure he would past the background check ...

If he means the CORPS, as in Unite States Marine CORPS, then their boot camp will whoop him into shape!

Marine Corps boot camp is the hardest of them all except seals I believe. Even Soldiers have said it. Army boot camp is nothing.

If there was one thing I could tell Edwards is do not under any circumstances take anything the DI's (drill instructors) say personally. They do it to break you down then they build you up to be a completely different person.

Also, one more thing do NOT sign an open contract! && With the accident that happened in Nevada, don't sign to be an ammo tech, I'm almost 100% sure their lives are hell right now testing and checking all the ammo.

Good luck, an SEMPER FI!!!

I'm a Marine Wife so I know what I'm talking about. But what one person before me said, you have to want to change and want to be a great Marine to be a Marine.

Good luck!

If he can't spell "Corps" right, he obviously hasn't done any research. It's a disgrace to hear/read someone write "core" ugh. Being a Marine wife, that really pushes my buttons.

I think it will help him grow-up and mature!
