'Teen Mom' Kailyn Lowry Is Smart to Delay Her Wedding

Kailyn Lowry Javi MarroquinOh no! Kailyn Lowry has some sad news to report. The Teen Mom 2 star is cancelling her upcoming wedding!

So are things going sour with Javi Marroquin? Let's keep that rumor from spreading, shall we? These two are still going strong!

Isaac's mama and her Air Force sweetie are just fine, but they're still going to have to reschedule their big, fat Guatemalan wedding.

Kail and Javi are already technically married thanks to a courthouse ceremony before he reported for duty. But Kailyn took to Twitter this week to warn her fans that the big wedding they'd planned to enjoy with family and friends will be delayed for a year.

The problem? Kail got her taxes done, and the news wasn't good: she owes the government thousands of dollars. Paying for a wedding just isn't in the cards this year.

Ouch. Sounds like she needs to have a chat with the folks in the MTV accounting office about withholding funds from her paycheck. It's not fun owing the feds big.

More From The Stir: 'Teen Mom' Kailyn Lowry's Book Will Be a Painful Read

It's obviously a big bummer for the Teen Mom star who has been wasting away her time while Javi is tied up with Air Force duties working on the wedding plans.

But can I just take five seconds and commend her for the way she's responded to this bump in the road?

The girls on this show get a lot of flack for acting like children instead of adults. Just this week we watched Teen Mom 2 and had to see one of her co-stars making bad decision after bad decision about what to prioritize in life. But Kailyn's showing off the level head she's becoming known for with this decision.

Does it suck having to put off a wedding? Of course. But having the government come after you for non-payment of taxes would suck a whole lot more.

It's nice to see Kailyn doing things the "right" way even when they're hard.

Are you surprised Kail and Javi have put the brakes on wedding planning?

The Teen Moms are not employees of MTV, so they are not subject to tax withholding. They are paid 100% of the contracted amount, and it is up to them to set funds aside to pay their taxes when they file their tax returns.
