Get ready for another Kanye West rant, folks. By now, everyone knows how he trashed Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie" single while on stage in New York. Honestly, he sounded more like a spoiled brat than a guy with a legitimate beef. It was clear that Kanye, who earned raves for his musical collaborations with Jay-Z in the past, was just jealous. Well, JT's latest response to that tirade is sure to further enrage the "Gold Digger" rapper.
Instead of boasting or bitching about the diss, Justin first opted to subtly slam Kanye by changing a lyric in the song during his March 9 performance on SNL. He replaced, "Aww, sh-t so sick, got a hit and picked up a habit" with "my hit's so sick, got rappers acting dramatic." I am sure that really got Kanye hot under his haute couture collar. But the former N*Sync-er's revenge didn't end there.
During a sitdown on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, Justin directly addressed the supposed beef. When asked about changing the words, he gave a devilish smirk and feigned ignorance about it. "Did it seem that way?" he asked. "I don't remember that ... Did I change a line? It is live. You know, really, everyone, keep calm." Then Fallon quipped, "Keep calm, and Kanye on." So funny. The whole exchange really puts this mess in perspective. I actually think Kanye is a musical genius and this fight is a complete waste of his star power. If he wants to gripe about something, why not pick a subject that really matters or one that actually impacts his fans -- like joblessness or the crime rate.
Justin ended his interview by adding, "I absolutely love Kanye. So there's that. We love Kanye, right?" There's no chance we believe that. I am sure Justin, Jay-Z, and everyone in their inner circle just roll their eyes every time the guy opens his mouth. I know we do. But fact of the matter is, this will probably just fuel Kanye's rage. He probably will respond in some silly, over-the-top, totally uncalled-for way. That's just the way the guy operates.
