One of the stars on this season’s Dancing with the Stars is turning to show veteran Kirstie Alley for advice. Alley appeared on the program twice (12th and 15th seasons -- both times with Maksim Chmerkovskiy) and was only narrowly beat out of the mirrorball trophy by NFL Super Bowl champion Hines Ward. She’s now happily taking the new contestant under her wing and offering some sage advice.
Don't you want to know which Season 16 is getting a helping hand from Ms. Alley?
Wynonna Judd has found a mentor in her friend Kirstie Alley, who has been able to keep her calm through the crazy process of preparing for the show, which premiers next week on ABC. It seems as though the country music star has been suffering from the jitters, but says, “Kirtie’s become my mentor in telling me, ‘Get two buckets, get some ice, have them ready in the car when you’re done.’”
Wynonna also recently said, "I've talked to Kirstie so many times … she said if you have fun and you do everything that you're going to be doing with your heart, the rest will follow. I really believe that. She really misses [the show]."
To prepare for the show, Wynonna transformed the garage of her Nashville home into a dance studio, where she’s been relentlessly rehearsing her ballroom moves. Of course one of the side effects of all that exercise is shedding weight, a fact that I’m sure Wynonna and Kirstie have bonded over, having both famously struggled with their own weight issues.
Wynonna says she’s feeling good, but is nervous for the competition. In addition to turning to her famous friend, she’s also been looking to her fans for support.
“My fans have been saying to me, ‘You’re an incredible talent and I know you’re going to do great. Just enjoy it and relax,’” she said. “Relax? Really? In front of millions of people … OK.”
I know, easier said than done. But take a deep breath and try to have some fun. And don’t forget the ice -- your sore muscles and sore feet will thank you later.
What advice would you give a friend to help them get over the jitters?
