Like it or not, Honey Boo Boo is big news. Everyone wants to know what the little beauty queen is up to -- and with good reason. The things that come out of her mouth are pure entertainment gold. Literally. Parade magazine has revealed that Alana Thompson will receive a huge salary bump when the new season begins later this year and it's more than anyone expected.
Honey Boo Boo will reportedly pull in a whopping $50,000 per episode. No word yet on how many shows TLC will produce, but if 10 air, that comes to $500,000. That's a half million dollars. Can you believe it? That's almost as much as Blake Shelton earns for The Voice. In fact, there are a ton of sitcom stars that don't pull that kind of cash in. It may seem a little unfair to all those starving actors and musicians -- but you can't deny that Honey Boo Boo is one of the most memorable TV personalities out there.

She deserves every penny. Everyone knows how fleeting fame can be -- and I think her mom June Shannon is aware of that too. She has said that she is putting just about everything they make away for Alana's future. Smart move. I am sure she will need it. Though, now that their salary has essentially tripled, I don't think the family should be afraid to spend a little.
Mama has said that a bigger bank account hasn't changed their lifestyle. In fact, she scoffs at the kind of lifestyle Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie live. So don't expert her to have a chateau anywhere or a private jet. But when I say the family could make some serious upgrades, I am not talking about buying Porches and mansions. I mean, why keep eating Sketti when they can afford to eat so much better, so much healthier. And maybe even fix up their little house. That salary, after all, is for everyone. Yes, Honey Boo Boo is the bigger star, but they all make the show a crazy, can't miss hit.

Doesn't EVERYONE who appears on the show get paid????
I would be using that money to give myself a better life....pay off my house and then renovate everything in it. LOL. I admire June for wanting to stick to their roots but their lifestyle could use a few upgrades without compromising who they are.
I think that her mom does things right. No matter what the family makes from the show in terms of money, she is still living life as if they are on a tight budget. As they should! SAVE the money for their kids' futures.
If people did not want to see them have more money than they do...they wouldn't watch!!! Watching is what gives ratings...ratings is what gets signed for more episodes...more episodes is what makes them more money...does not take a rocket scientist to figure it out. But just because this family is not YOUR cup of tea, does not mean that some of us, actually MANY of us, genuinely love these folks!! Its great to watch people who dont let their fame go right to their heads. In the end, its our choice and us BooBoo lovers...LOVE THEM!!!
Why should they change their lifestyle just because the author of this article thinks they should? If more of American actually lived within their means and saved for the future we would not be in the trouble we are as nation.
June respects her husband and sees to it that he is the breadwinner in the family, not their child. She puts the money straight into a trust found for all the kids so when they are older they can have the chance to go to college (without crippling student loans) or start a business of their own. They should be admired for the way they are handling their money and not letting it change their life style.
BTW - hasn't this same writer damned parents who live off the labor of their kids???
