5 Successful Celebs Who Were Teen Moms & Should Inspire the Likes of Jenelle & Maci (PHOTOS)

sofia vergaraThese days, "teen mom" is synonymous with MTV, baby daddy drama, and, unfortunately, rehab. The reality show has come under fire for its supposed glamorization of teen motherhood with stars like Jenelle Evans, Maci Bookout, and Leah Messer Calvert becoming larger than life celebrities whose stories sell tabloids and, thus, ads.

But it wasn't always like that. Obviously teen motherhood is a tale as old as time, but you might be surprised to learn that these 5 well-known and highly successful women were also teen moms. The MTV cast should take note -- these ladies set a wonderful example.

Glamorizing teen pregnancy is a bad idea since 98% will never end up like this.

How is it glamorizing? By showing how being a teen mom isn't the end of the world? I don't think spreading your legs at any age with a ring or not is better than the next lady spreading her legs. Just saying.

I've watched Teen Mom and I don't see how people can say it's glamorizing teen pregnancy. I think it does the total opposite. Do you not see how much drama goes on with those girls? I was a teen mom. I got pregnant at 18 and gave birth at 19. Life isn't over because of it. Though I was so young, I've always been very mature for my age. I've never been into half the stupid stuff that other teenagers are. I devoted most of my time to family and school.

How are married women to be considered "teen mom's"?? Yes, they are young but 18/19 is basically adult (or used to be before we made childhood last into their 20's). Now Aretha Franklin -she was a teen mom!
