Mary Louise Parker Made 'Homophobic' Death Threats In an Antique Shop?!

Say What!? 11

mary louise parkerCelebs are known for having some pretty crazy public tantrums, but I find the latest alleged famous person freak-out pretty hard to believe. I mean, Mary Louise Parker?! Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I can't picture the Weeds star losing her cool -- on the contrary, she's fabulously talented in the art of melting down, at least onscreen -- but unleashing a homophobic tirade in an upstate NY antique store? That's a bit of a stretch, even for an actress of her caliber.

Apparently Parker's friend sold a vintage purse through antiques dealer Daniel Seldin. But when they showed up at his shop to collect payment, Seldin refused. Naturally, there was an argument. Of course. I can imagine Parker adamently standing up for a pal, can't you? But NOT like this ...

Selden claims Parker threatened his life, shouting, "Do you want to wake up tomorrow?! I'll make one phone call!!" Oh, and then he says she called him a "f*g."

Dude. This is Mary Louise Parker, not Mel Frigging Gibson. Really?! Parker's rep denies the accusations, saying Selden is trying to take advantage of her celebrity status, adding, "anyone who knows [Mary Louise Parker] knows she would never say that word."

I didn't think so! But here's the best part -- Selden took a photo of Parker "mid-meltdown" as evidence, presumably. A photo which shows the actress with her hands clasped, her eyebrows raised pleadingly, a look on her face that says Hey, I don't want to be a bother, but if you wouldn't mind paying my friend? She could really use the money and we would so appreciate it. I love your shop!

Great "evidence," dude.

Do you think Mary Louise Parker would have a public meltdown like this one?

This is the problem, so what if she did?  I think we are much better off knowing people's real feelings than them hiding them due to political correctness.  Should you use the F-word?  No, but I would much rather know that you think that way than find out later you have been attending secret meetings wearing robes/hoods.  Last time i looked we still have freedom of speech and while some things may be offensive, rude, and morally wrong, it's not against the law.  My guess is the shopkeeper was more than defensive and sarcastic and that the people wanting to get paid were more or less fighting back.  Just a guess, but wouldn't it make more sense if he explained why he wasn't paying them and providing details of the mishap?  I think he was looking for a reason to look good whiling scamming them the cash.

I don't think saying "fag" is homophobic. Is it rude, yes. I also don't think because someone would say it means they're part of the KKK as referred to my one of the other commenters. People are called names all the time, they're just words.  Unless they were said by someone I cared about I'd just dismiss them as being inconsequential.

tbrucemom........I didn't say that by using a slur you were in the KKK, what I said was that i would prefer to find out people's true colors than finding out later they were secretly one way and yet hid it so well you had no idea.   Just a point of description.

I don't feel that saying "fag" is homophobic. I don't like the word. I don't use the word. And I correct close friends when they say it because it makes them sound immature in my opinion. It does bother me when people say that because it is hurtful to homosexuals. I hope she didn't. I don't know her personally so I have no idea whether she did or not.
