While one 22-year-old who starred in a big budget action flick based on a hit tween book series was accepting her profession's highest honor, another was accepting its worst. Kristen Stewart was awarded Worst Actress of the Year Saturday night at the Razzies, the annual pre-Oscars fete that makes fun of the industry's worst movies and performances over the last 12 months.
Not only did KStew win Worst Actress, but Breaking Dawn Part II won Worst Movie and Worst Director, too. Robert Pattinson was spared, surprisingly, but Taylor Lautner was awarded Worst Supporting Actor. Ouch.
BD2 was actually nominated in 11 Razzie categories, so the fact that it only won seven statues could be looked at as a good thing, right? Hey, just trying to find the silver lining here.
And say, speaking of silver linings, it must have stung KStew pretty bad to watch her contemporary, and some say rival, take home an Oscar while the sour taste of her own Razzie win hadn't yet had time to wear off. Even though Jennifer Lawrence didn't win for her performance in the Twilight competitor, Hunger Games, it's clear that her superior career choices, and franchise choices, are paying off.
Kristen now joins a list of fellow Worst Actress Razzie winners that includes Adam Sandler in drag, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan. Jennifer now joins a list of fellow Best Actress Oscar winners that includes Meryl Streep, Hilary Swank, and Kate Winslet.
Sounds like KStew might have her ego to nurse back to health, as well as her foot.
Do you think Breaking Dawn II and Kristen Stewart deserved those Razzies?
