silver tieExciiiiiting news out today about the Fifty Shades of Grey movie! And I swear, it's not just another rumor or silly casting buzz we can only speculate about. Adam Fogelson, Chairman of Universal Pictures, has discussed the timeline for the flick's release, which should be music to any Christian and Ana fan's ears -- especially since we're all starting to get a bit fatigued waiting around for the movie that seems like it'll never come!

Turns out the studio has "prioritized" the film and is shooting (no pun intended) to have it in theaters as "early" as summer 2014. Although that definitely sounds like lightyears away right now, at least Fogelson explained why it's taking so long ...

He noted:

I understand why some people might take that point of view [that the film won't be here soon enough]. But I don’t believe that EL James had any interest in going to a studio where rushing it into production was the vision. I don’t believe that the second or third film would have benefited from that strategy. And I think that there are totally legitimate questions about what this book is as a movie. I will tell you that it is an absolute priority for us. It’s conceivable that we could be ready to release it as early as next summer.

Yes, there's a possibility that this may not be written in stone, but it still sets my mind at ease! Our excitement may wane between now and then, but once they start casting ... and shooting ... and sneaky on-set pics start leaking (remember how it was back when Breaking Dawn: Part 1 was being shot?), there's no doubt our anticipation will build back to a fever pitch. By summer 2014, we'll be so ready to see the movie! And even better, because Universal and E.L. are resolute about taking their time with it and making sure it's right, I feel like there's a bigger chance it won't turn out to be a schlocky, softcore porn-y piece of garbage, you know?

Not to mention that a quality flick will undoubtedly set the Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed movies up to be even more mind-blowing. So, as antsy as we are, when we finally do see Christian and Ana on the big screen, hopefully, we'll all agree that it was totally worth the wait.
