So, I don't want to come right out and say that Alec Baldwin is completely nuts, but … I don't know, you guys, he sort of kind of maybe seems like he's possibly a little bit completely frickin nuts? I mean, it seems ironic that he's married to a yoga teacher, because Baldwin seems like he lost sight of his inner zen about twenty years ago.
The latest madness surrounding Alec Baldwin is tangentially related to the fact that his wife Hilaria Thomas is being sued by a guy who says he was dramatically injured in one of her classes. Apparently a New York Post writer and photographer approached Baldwin on Sunday to ask about the lawsuit, and … well, things got real ugly real fast. As in, Baldwin supposedly hurling death threats and racial slurs at the reporters.
Baldwin's denying it all, but considering his history with what I'll delicately refer to as "anger management issues," it's pretty hard to side with him on this one.
The Post claims that when the reporters asked Baldwin for a comment, he grabbed the female writer's arm and said "I want you to choke to death." (She has reportedly played an audio tape of the threat to police.) Baldwin allegedly went on to call staff photographer G.N. Miller a "a coon," "crackhead" and "drug dealer."
Police were called to the scene, and Baldwin and Miller both filed harassment claims against each other.
As is Alec Baldwin's habit, he immediately rushed to Twitter to rant about the encounter, referring to Miller as a "crackhead, ex jailhouse paparazzi." He also wrote,
Thank u 2 NYPD officers who came to my home 2day so that I could file a formal complaint against NY Post 'photographer' who assaulted me.
Most of his tweets have since been deleted.
I really REALLY don't want to think of Alec Baldwin as a racist guy, but exploding in rage isn't exactly anomalous behavior for him. It'd be a lot easier to believe the NY Post was making the whole thing up if Baldwin's recent history didn't include getting in a physical scuffle with a photographer, constantly fighting on Twitter (one argument resulted in his target receiving a blizzard of racial slurs), having a total hissy fit when he was asked to turn off his electronic device on a plane, and -- look, I can't even keep up with all his meltdowns. Suffice to say there have been a TON, including that infamous taped phone call when he told his then 11-year-old daughter that she was a "rude, thoughtless little pig."
Baldwin is of course denying that he used racial slurs during the incident. His spokesperson says the claims are "completely false," and Baldwin says,
If you want to paint a picture of me that is a denigrating picture, I've seen that. If you want to put words in my mouth...I've certainly had my moments. But this is not one of them. I don't think I've ever uttered a racial epithet to someone in my lifetime.
Ugh, who knows what to believe, but I think Alec Baldwin would be much better off if he and his wife moved to some remote Caribbean island where she could teach yoga on the beach and he could live a life of blissful seclusion. Whatever happened on Sunday with those Post reporters, he's clearly not getting any better at managing unwanted paparazzi encounters.
What's your guess on this story -- do you think Baldwin really did stoop to racist insults?

Simple solution would be for asshole "reporters" to stop hanging around his house, waiting to jump on him every time he leaves.
I say get over it. There are PLENTY of ways to get away from the paparazzi.
IDK why you people are defending this twit. The reporters were only doing their job, yeah, maybe we don't consider it the best thing they could be doing, but it's still their job. And really, how hard is it for him to say "No comment" & keep on walking?? If he isn't able to do that simple act, then the boy has issues that go much deeper than anyone wants to admit.
Agree and I don't feel, "I want you to choke to death" is a threat. Its all in word choice and the words he chose express free speech because even Alec Baldwin has the right to think and want. Now if he said "I will choke you to death" that would be a threat
Let's see... Alec Baldwin utters racial slurs against a police officer, tells a reporter he wants her to choke to death (both allegedly on tape), verbally abuses his daughter in public, gets into altercations on airplanes and other public venues, and people race to his defense again and again and again.
Mel Gibson rants against a police officer (not on tape), and his career is destroyed.
I wonder what the difference is?
Pony, I think the final straw for Mel was the taped drunken, verbally abusive phone messages to his child's mother.
But it's ok for Baldwin to call his daughter a "rude, thoughtless little pig" and whatever else he called her in that sickening rant? I'm sorry, both of them are wrong. NEITHER deserves defending. And yet, people cut Baldwin slack, even make excuses for him and blame reporters and others around him for "inciting" his "well-known temper". Gibson was indicted from the get-go, and never given a moment's rest until his career was pretty much done.
Double standard.
